Help with scope or reddot

Im trying to figure out what range is best to sight either a scope or red dot at. I dont know if i should sight them at 50 yrd or further away. I will be shooting targets at 100 yrds but also some of the indoor ranges i will be going to wont be but at 50 yrds and i really dont want to have to re sight my weapon everytime.

There's a thread/poll with all the info you need. I had a red dot sighted in at 25 meters. much further than that and groups got pretty big due to the fact that the dot completly covers most of what I'm shooting at. I now have a 4x32 mil-dot sighted in at 50m. Seems like alot of people, but not all, zeroing at 25 are shooting at indoor ranges. If your outdoors like me, and being that the .22 round is more than capable of going 100m +, being sighted in at 25 will make your hold off will be quite substantial.

4x is a great optic for this rifle.

I have a Primary Arms Compact 4X with a micro fine ACOG-like reticle. Sharp from edge to edge, field of view is great, and the micro fine cross hairs allow for very precise aiming under 100yds. The reticle can also be illuminated. As with all dime store illuminated optics, they suffer somewhat in the glass brightness category. Great optic that fits perfect between a 1x red dot and higher magnified scopes. I should have bought more of these.

where did you get that scope at? i like the design alot how bright is the optics do you have a picture with them on?

I got it at Primary Arms. The reticle lights up just fine. 11 settings. Bright daylight 9-11 works best. One thing that is real nice is that the when illuminated the micro fine reticle stays real sharp unlike a lot of red dot style optics that tend to starburst. You can't get this scope any more from Primary Arms. They sold out their last shipment the moment they came in. PA is now specing a Gen2. Hopefully it will have a similar reticle. --- I once saw a similar scope from another web vendor. Can't remember which one. If you Google 4x Compact Scopes and spend some time searching you may find one similar.

Depends on the kind of shooting you do. IMHO, 4X has too small a FOV for some rapid acquisition type firing (dancing cans, golf balls, etc)

If you sight in (for a "first zero" - on the way up) at 25 yds, you will also be at 0 at 75 yds, and within an inch or so everywhere in between. Something like 3" drop at 100 yds.
