help with serial number S&W 357

I HAVE A MODEL 10-8 357 CAL 3 INCH BARREL SERIAL NUMBER 13D61XX I HAVE BEEN TOLD S&W DIDNT MAKE THIS MODEL IN 357 YET I HAVE ONE THANKS FOR ANY HELP ON THIS GUN IT IS A 6 SHOT NICKLE FINISH THANKS JEFF

Most likely, it is a model 13 that was mis-stamped as a model 10 at the factory, which has been reported occasionally with all types of S & W s. It was shipped in 1982. Hope this is helpful.
 
are you measuring barrel length correctly? from the front of cylander to the end of barrel, and getting 3 inch

There were some model 10-6 4" guns that were produced in 357 magnum. They were the precursor to the model 13-1 357's. I am not aware of any 10-8's in 357, HOWEVER, with Smith and Wesson, anything is possible.

Does the gun in question have a recessed cylinder and a pinned barrel? If you could post a few photos, that would be helpful.

thanks for the help i would love to post a picture but i am doing good just to get to a web site i can send them to your email address thanks for the help its stamped 10-8 357 when i tell people that they tell me there is no way it can be a 10-8 yet i have one so any info you give me on this would be great
