Well sniffing around this pawnshop and there was a S&W 3" J frame 60-10 .357 magnum. Underlug on barrel, adjustable sights, round butt...

AND NO LOCK. True MIM parts with frame mounted firing pin.. and the price?

Tax inc. $633.12!! Yes with tax included!

It is now on lay-a-way... More later (I intend on getting it fully paid off in just a few days.)

model 60 nice.....but a 31-1 with that extra round.....thinking CHUCK BROSON death wish here.

congrats!!

The 60-9 which is 2" and 60-10 which is 3" are the only Model 60's I'm aware of that are 357 and don't have a lock, only made for a few years too.

My 60-10 is my "summer carry". I carry it in a Ritchie Leather "Rough Out" (similar to a summer special). I practice with 38's and carry Hornady Critical Duty 135gr (these are a mid-power 357). The 357's are not pleasant but its manageable. They are about 1,280 fps. I'd like to find a 125gr that shoots about 1,200 fps...

I recently put Hogue cocobolo mono grip on it. It's one of my favorite guns.

I shot .357s out of my 2" 640 yesterday for the first time. 158 Gr Federal. With Pachmayr Compac grips, the recoil was not pleasant but surprisingly manageable. The spitting of lead on my left hand and face was not manageable. It never does that with .38s.

BUMMER... gun range is closed for classes... opens back tomorrow.. but...

Super a.webp

Gun on right is my CCW Centennial .357 Magnum. Left is the new 60-10 in .357 magnum.

Super b.webp

Yes no lock!!! Pachyear grips. And someone did an action job.. very smooth DA pull! I suspect they swapped springs out (and added the Compac grips.)

Super c.webp

Tomorrow I'll take the pair out along with my 63 8 shot kit gun (it does have the lock.) And my Kimber K6S .357.

That will give me time to reload some ammo tonight!
