Hi to all of you...

I've recently bought this revolver but I'm not to sure it is a s&w one... I wonder if u could help me...

The frame has the s&w logo and the made in usa mark, the barrel says smith & Wesson and .32 long ctg but in the bottom (grips) it says made in spain

So i wonder if it is a hand ejector model or another s&w model or it is only a spanish copy of s&w.

thanx

Looks like a S&W knock-off made in Spain. They did that a lot, copying Smith. Yours is modeled after an early M&P heavy barrel but chanbered in .22LR.

First off, I am NOT an expert on these models, but since no one has responded yet, I'm going to take a stab at it. I think that this is a copy for the following reasons;
1. To my knowledge, Smith never made anything in Spain.
2. Side plate fit is substandard for a S&W.
3. Barrel profile is a little off.
4. Grip profile is WAY off.
5. Serial # font is unlike any I've seen on the genuine article.
6. I don't believe they ever used a wide trigger on a prewar .32
7. Strain screw protrudes way too much, as does the "4th" screw in front of the trigger guard.
8. I don't believe S&W ever grooved the front of the grip frame.
9. Ejector rod and barrel are not parallel.

I'm quite certain that another, more knowledgeable member will be able to provide more evidence than I, but I think it's a start.

Sorry, Diamondback, you responded while I was still typing!

thanx a lot :-)

yeah :-( it´s true what i thought... just a spanish s&w knock-off...

do u know if they were made to have some quality or they are just a piece of junk...

what would u suggest me... to keep it & give it some maintenance or it would be better to try to sell it!

how much do u think is its value?

thanx again!

It's definitely not made to the same quality as a S&W. I would just keep it, it's probably not worth more than $100. I wouldn't even pay $50 for it.

Don't know about quality, but I'd probably shoot it left-handed since I prefer to keep my right one. As for value, if somebody offered me $100 for it, I'd take it and run. Fast.

hahahaha... thanx for ur honesty!!!

and what could u tell me about its caliber? what I know is that is not recommended for self-defense, is it?

At the last city agency agency I worked at (Rural county) there were a lot of those spanish copies of Smith and Wesson revolvers owned by home owners for "Home Protection". The owners had purchased these revolvers prior to WWII at the local hardware/feed store. Most had never been fired. Some were .38 caliber or .32/20. In those days .32/20 was thought to be a very powerful round.

I just signed up ,but don't know enough about computers to post a question, if the button does not tell me which one to press, so here is an attempt,if i'm in the right space, I have a S&W 38 spec ctg, hand ejector mod 1 above #17111, 8 below,ser#76944, given to me by an old sheriff relative, long deceased. question How old? and worth what Please?
