Near mint condition, maybe only less tha 60 rounds throughit. It is. Lew Horton gun, very faint drag line on the cyl. No box but has the original grips plus other sets. Here in "Kalifornia" due the safe handgun roster this can not be brought in from a free state and must be private party face to face only or buy. So my question would be approx.value in "Kali " and the rest of the country. Picture added
last week. Thanks in advance!

I can tell you from experience and my safe that there were 200 of them Dist from Lew Horton...

Last week one sold on GB for 1375.00 and it was NIB with Orig Combats, Tools, and All Paperwork and they have sold anywhere from 975-1500 in the last 6 months depending on condition and original Combat grips or not...

Nice Revolver and Good Luck in your acquistion...

All your pictures are moved. I would have liked to see them.

wrong grips obviously, but in my opinion its in the 900 range due to rarity
I say buy it...good luck

Yes the grips are not the original, it does have them with 3 other sets, from Pac's to little J frame looking things. 5 sets total. I have to wait til this coming Friday to pick up at my LGS. Here in Kali we have a 10 day waiting period. Maybe after pick up I will update the pictures with the other grips. I went in at $850- plus $35- transfer fee. the seller felt the $850- was high retail but I don't believe he knew it was a Lew Horton.

That's a great deal, I've been looking for the 629 variant and they seem to be priced much higher on similar condition guns. I think you stole that, especially where you're located.
Good for you!

Thank you for the above information , I see on gun broker there are two for sale, one of them is here in my state even. Both of them are listed as part of a 200 pieces run as well as you. My question is where does the 200 pieces number come from as Earl at Lew Horton has told me there were closer to 5,000 of the 29-3 blue 3". I like the 200 number better, I would just like to try to verify who is correct here to make a better determination to the amount of them, thank you again !

These can be "brought in from a free state" quite easily and legally. The key is using the Single Action exemption.

shooting4life has a great thread on this http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-sm...ert-s-w-single-action-so-can-imported-ca.html

I'm not positive on this, but have heard it from more then one source. LH ordered 2500 blued and stainless 3" guns. After that run was completed, smith made 2500 more of them. This second run was distributed directly through smith.

Grips would be similar to these....RB N Frame Combat stocks

Are these the original grips ? Sorry about the burry picture :(

They look to be the original style of Combat grips that have been altered for fit...referred to as "ruined" by collectors. Unaltered originals come up for sale quite often, but are not cheap.

BTW...i recently sold one just like it with the correct Combats for $855

Here is one I took in on trade and sold last year for around $1000. This was a super nice gun and very comfortable in the hand. But my hangup is .357 MAG so I didn't keep this one.

Somewhere I put there were 5,000 of these made, the OP may have a different model. Jim --- do you know the SKU of yours? If there were only 200 of these made, then I should of kept it!

MinerMax - If the gun stays in Califorinia, I would expect someome there would pay a premium for it. Your guys prices on collectable non-roster guns is elevated.

Lots of Pictures here ---- S&W Model 29-3

AR Black- Those are some perfect pictures, I need to learn much more on mine. The below quote was added to another thread last night. I wonder if this explains the #200 made question? My Sku # is the same as Jims #101224. Trying to figure this out is about, well :confused:Quote:

Thank you very much. This sounds good to me. I have been trying to figure where the #200 came from for about 2 weeks now for my new to me L.H. 29-3 3". I do not have the books to check and verify, but would this mean the balance of 4800 N frames to L.H. would be divided up by the remaining models of 629,24 & 57 ? Would be nice to know how many of each of these other models of that production were made. Seems the less of the model the higher collectability ? I recovered the box today from the original owner. Now my quest will be for the correct set of combat grips since he custom fitted this set to his

Product Code 101224 has conflicting information in "The Book"…

In the Model 29 CUMLULATIVE Listings section is says: "Lew Horton Special: M29-3 Combat Magnum 3" barrel, contoured wood grips, adjustable white outline rear sight, red ramp front sight, smooth combat trigger, semi target hammer. Product Code 101224. Approximately 5000 manufactured 1984 – 1985. ANIB $700."

The Book contradicts itself later in the Product Code and features table as it lists: "101224 3" Blue RB 200 Mfd. For Lew Horton, 1985."

Anyway with all things being equal you did the right thing and contacted Lew Horton. You reported the Lew Horton Guy (Earl) said ~5000 were made. With that data along with the book I think you should be closer to the truth than if you only had the book's contradictory findings. Best of luck and let us know what else you come up with.

I agree with the 5,000 number. 200 is definitely not accurate. If Lew Horton said 5,000 , that is what it was.
