help with value/birthdate for mdl 38 snub

Thanks in advance for any assistance you offer. I am pondering a S&W mdl 38 snub at a local pawn shop with serial number J2099** in excellent condition w/o box or papers. I'm interested to know its manufacture date and whether its a keeper at $325. Also interested to learn the range of years this gun was produced. Thanks again.

Manufacture date is about 1974. If it's in 95% condition or better, with original grips, $325 would be a fair price for me. The Model 38 was produced from 1955 - 1999 according to the SCSW.
