i just bought a model 60 1974-1979 s&w snubbie, being very new at this, and it was differnt shooting this one,( i had been useing a 38 too). the hammer had been shaved off , the trigger was harder to pull (it seemed) but i shot good with it, i just do not feel as safe with out that hammer being there, but would like for both to be easyer to pull. does anyone have any suggestions that may help me out? aaaaam i going to be poor now ??????? thank you,:)

How does having a hammer make you feel safer? Hammers get bobbed to make it easier to carry the gun but it has no impact on the safety of the gun.

My suggestion, take it to a gunsmith and see if he or she will put a lighter mainspring in it, if possible.
As to the bobbed hammer, you might BR able to find a spare on the net, but since the model 60 is a concealed carry revolver, I'd say leave it alone and use it as is. Dale

Take it to a gunsmith who can do any trigger/spring work that may be needed; the gunsmith should be able to replace the hammer if that is what you want.

It's also possible that your new, to you, M-60 is just in need of a good cleaning to ease the trigger problems, unless you know how to PROPERLY, remove and replace the side plate have your gunsmith start by doing a deep cleaning for you.
