Flea Market Find. Can someone tell me what it is? Appropriate year and idea what it’s worth with no grips? Bore looks clean only problem I see is cylinder won’t lock. Appreciate the help!

Anyway.. I read the serial as "38571
From SCSW 4th issue, you have a Model No. 1 2nd Issue made from 1860 to 1868 in a serial range of 11,612 - 126,361. (117,000 made)
The book values them at $150 Poor, $250 Fair. I don't think yours would exceed these conditions even with a set of correct grips. (Finding grips might be a problem.)
Someone here should know the approximate cut off date for Civil War production. Hopefully they will post. As for an actual date, you will need to get a letter at $75.00. (I don't know if I would spend the money on one in this condition. But, then again, there is always a chance it went to a name instead of just a distributor. Your call....

You have what's left of a Model One, 2nd issue. It's missing the stocks & the extractor rod and their screws. Parts may be broken or missing in the action, also, as you say cylinder stop is not working. Value, as is, about $40 to $50 max, as a parts donor. You didn't get hurt @ $5. Ed.

I can only add that the "AA9" stampings should match the barrel and cylinder stamps as these were marks that indicate that all the major assemblies were fitted originally to the revolver at the factory. I'll add that the cylinder catch has two springs; one to hold the latch down so the cylinder doesn't move and a 'split-spring' that allows the cylinder to unlock and advance to the next shot but not unlock when fired. The split-spring is hard to find and may be why your revolver is missing that part; already an organ donor. I'd buy it for 5 bucks only for the novelty.

Cylinder looks odd to me where are the notches in it as I can't see them.
