Based on Lotus Cars’ existing Elise S platform, the ECO Elise concept car sports hemp-fiber-reinforced polyester body panels in place of standard glass/polyester. Hemp fibers visible in the bold, unpainted bumper-to-spoiler stripe make a striking eco-contrast to the silver metallic finish. Source: Lotus Cars.

So does that mean when you wear it out you can smoke it?

Why, yes... but no high from hemp!

Hemp and marijuana are both cannabis.. but not the same...
hemp has very little THC.
But hemp does have over 25,000 industrial uses.

We import over 1/2 billion dollars worth a year.. mostly from China.

I imagine in actual practice that the sound deadening properties are epic.
doing burn outs with it may result in some excessive grinning over other materials. I also have to wonder if it can get by a drug dog

President Obama has signed the Farm Bill which contains an amendment to legalize hemp production for research purposes.
Up until now, the United States was the only country in the world where hemp was illegal to grow. Because it looked like it's cousin
marijuana.

Take a look at this short video.
Not only did Henry Ford make a car using hemp.. it also run on hemp fuel! :D

Nothin' wrong with hemp. It's a useful plant.

As for it's cousin, that's for another thread & I'm on probation... ;)

Well.. this is a gun forum... But..
I predict within a short time it's "cousin" will be removed from
Form 4473 - 11e: "Are you an unlawfull user of, or addicted to, marijuana.."
