My wife went with me to a gun show last year. We stumbled upon a three inch Model 60. She liked the feel of the gun but we couldn’t make a deal on it. Haven’t seen one since. So I bought her a new one while she wasn’t looking. She doesn’t enjoy shooting but wants to get her cc license. I bought her a 380 EZ a few months ago. Did not want her to think she needed a revolver because that is all I have.
Coaxing her out to shoot takes patience but she understands she needs to practice if she is going to keep one with her. As you can see we need a lot more practice. I wasn’t doing her any favors by switching her back and forth between the 380 and 38. I did want her to compare the two guns. She actually shot the Model 60 a little better but was quicker with the EZ. The only thing she said that surprised me was she liked the sights on the revolver better. The EZ has virtually no recoil but the Model 60 surprised me how comfortable it is to shoot with 38+p.
She seems more comfortable with the revolver at the moment but that could change. She is unused to guns and it is simpler to operate. That may change with more trigger time and familiarity. It is her choice!

If she shot that silhouette at 10 yards then I'd say she's doing a sight better than a lot of guys I've seen shooting at my club/range.

I got my wife an M642 and she's darn good with the "J" frame, magna's, Tyler-T combo... And it's simpler to operate than a semi-auto for a woman. Nothing wrong with a 3" M60... Find her favorite load and have her practice a couple hours every 2 weeks and she'll improve drastically. That's what I did. Now all we work on is laying down 5 pops as fast as possible, reload, and back to it!

I got my wife a m60LS when she started shooting with me . Then I went on the hunt and got her a M3913LS and a 3914LS . She still likes her m60 , but shoots all of them well . Looking for a M65LS , there's one for sale here , but they aren't cheap . We've been married 35 years and I learned it takes a female to teach a female to shoot . She doesn't like being told how to do something by me . Plus it's hard for us men to understand what is comfortable for them and what works .

That's not bad at all for two different guns - heart, lungs, liver, and one good one to the right jugular. I have a 60-15 that will keep 1"-1 1/2" groups off hand at 7-10 yards with non +P 38's. Same for my 637 and 60 with the shorter barrels. Just keep the front sight on target, and practice makes perfect.

Well, not all women shoot like Modesty Blaise.

Looks as if your wife can deck a villain at most ranges likely to be encountered within a home.

And that M-60 is a splendid camp and backpacking gun. My M-60-4 thinks it's a K-38! I'm amazed at how accurate it is, esp with Speer's 125 grain JHP and 135 grain Short Barrel loads.

If more penetration is needed, for bear or a stalking cougar, it groups 158 grain lead HP Plus P quite well, too.

This doesn't really surprise me. I've always found s&w adjustable revolver sights to be the best. Looks like she is shooting very well!

She may never enjoy firearms or be a bullseye shooter, but if she can shoot that well out to 20 yards, then she'd pass her CC target portion in SC.

I took private lessons on personal defense at my range, which included rapid point-shooting on an attacking target (target trolley) from close range. That drill made obvious which platform worked best for me if attacked, more than any amount of fixed target shooting ever could.

So what platform/specific gun did you decide on for every day carry/defense? I'm thinking you have a couple of dedicated CCW rigs as your go to's for different atmospheres and conditions...

As fate would have it, I wound up transitioning between every type of action in my carry, before learning what worked best for me, both physically and mentally.

Physically, I short-stroke long and heavy DA triggers on fast follow-up shots. Mentally, I don't want a safety on a carry, or in lieu of a safety, a typical 5lb trigger like most strikers. For me, 5lbs doesn't offer a great enough safety factor.
DA/SA without a safety was my choice, and a CZ PCR is my EDC. Heavy first pull, short/fast follow-up pulls, ticks the boxes I looked for. Purely by coincidence, I happen to shoot it well and fast.

Not putting down any platform. They all did the job well. As a novice, it just took a while to learn what worked best for me.

I'm also in the Upstate, near Greenville and am going for my SC CCW. Could you name drop this range? They seem to be a bit scarce. Did have a CCW back in Fl before we moved, but cuts no ice in SC, so I'm looking.

Welcome to the neighborhood.

I'd recommend Sharpshooters for classes, range time and memberships, firearms purchases, and the in-house gunsmith.
Get ammo from someplace else, like online at SGAmmo.

For outdoor practice, the free facilities at the Pickens County Range, run by the state DNR, are worth checking out. Rife, Handgun, Clays, Doves, and Archery facilities. They are manned by a DNR officer, who has free rifle sleds, spotting scopes, and clay throwing machines to lend.

Does she make you sit in the chair, behind the target, and confirm her "called shots?" I hate when my wife makes me do that but, it does get me an opportunity to check out my level 5 body armor.

Seriously though, that is impressive shooting! She has my respect and so do you for taking the time to assist her in becoming a really fine shooter!!!!
