I just joined the forum. I have a Model 36 and was wondering how to go about determining its age.

Greetings and welcome to the Forum...it would help if you gave the serial number ,otherwise, no one would have much to add, save for the fact you say it is a "model 36", meaning does it have a model number stamped/marked on the inside of the cylinder crane/frame area???? if it indeed has a "model" designation, my bet is it's been made AFTER 1958....need more info
Good luck in your search and can give you another hint', helps to have the books, such as the 'Standard Catalog of Smith& Wesson' its up to Vol 3 now. Would make a great Christmas present to yourself ( or tell Santa)

Hello Herb,
Post the serial# located on the BOTTOM of the grip strap or "butt" of the revolver. You can "X" out the last 2 digits for privacy/security if you wish.
