Yesterday was not a very good day as I found out that my youngest stepson that is a ex heroin addict stole three checks from me and cashed them at my bank. I've given the info to the police and signed a statement that I want to press charges.I will not confront him till the police get the warrant as he will take off. We thought he was doing good for the last few years after he got out of jail but now I just do'nt know. I'm not not talking a lot of money $195.00 But any amount is important as I've been out of work since last october. I've also been missing a few power tools but could not proove anything. This is the last straw and I hope HE WILL BE GOING BACK TO THE BIG HOUSE!!!!!:(

When you close the door on him this time............change the locks, he will never change.

Living with an addict is tough. You are doing what you have to do. Just try and remember, the addiction will come before anything or anyone. I hope and pray that the young man will find himself before the addicition takes him from you.

That's the tough truth. At least if he's out of your house, you won't get in a position to have to defend yourself because you got between him and his 'fix." Joe

This is the 3rd time we've been through this but my wife away's talk's me into giving him anouther chance he was doing good for 2 years till about 4 months ago when he had a fight with his live in girlfriend and she through him out.. If it was up to me after the 1st time he would never be able to step foot on my property. I did ask about a restraining order but the police said there is not a very good chance of getting one unless he become's violent.P/S I just got back from 3 pawn shops to try and find some of my tools but no luck yet I'll try a few more in bordering towns.

Takes a lot of guts to do the right thing. Good luck to you and your family. This may have been the only thing left to do, to give him any chance, if he will take it.

He figured something is up and asked the wife when are they coming {the police} he took off with the clothing on his back and is on the run.He has my wife's cell phone I told her to call and cancel the service but she said it has GPS so he can be tracted when the warrant come's in. He is on Roboxin so I beleive he has not gone back on the heroin as he'd be very sick . He called my wife and asked her to take him to a rehab to get off the Roboxin before he go's back to jail she told him he is on his own.
p/s Thanks again Guys for all the support

My thoughts are with you and your family. You are doing the right thing. In my family, my Dad was a Cop, I was and my youngest brother was a Cop. My middle brother was a screw up and got involved using/dealing drugs.

Sometimes for no apparent reason, things go wrong with kids. Do not beat yourself up.

The funny thing is that when I married my wife at 36 my 1st her 2nd this one was 12 years old and his brother was 15. The younger one would bitch us out for having a glass of wine. Every thing was good till there father started playing head games. The oldest put us through hell for a few years but has turned out o/k .

You and your wife are responsible for your actions, not his. You have went the extra mile with him. Now is the time to make him responsible for his actions. I have been down this road with my son. At 17 he had all the answers to life's problems. At 32, he is learning that his answers may not work. I endured five years of his mother protecting him.

There is no reason for either of you to feel guilty. You did what every caring, loving parent can for a child. It is time for him to face reality, and accept the consequences of his choices and behavior. I suggest you and your wife talk to a third-party counselor about yourselves and how to cope with this situation. This is a heavy burden to carry as a couple alone. My prayers go out for you and your wife.

she told him he is on his own.

There's the key. It's hard for a parent to do, but in cases of addiction, it's the best thing for the kid. Give your wife all the support and love you can, because her heart is breaking right now. Prayers for you all.

I suffered though the loss of a father while my grandfather suffered through the loss of a son. That should be the worst.

What you are suffering though may just be worse though.

Protect Yourself and Family...

Bob,

This is a tough thing to live through. There is no telling what the addict will do if he is cut off from his resources and becomes desperate or if he thinks he's cornered.

This from today's Portland Press Herald...

Police: Cambridge man killed by son last night | The Portland Press Herald / Maine Sunday Telegram

"A Detroit [Maine] man was arrested early this morning in connection with the killing of his father last night in the Somerset County town of Cambridge [Maine], police said."

"According to a Morning Sentinel story published last year in April, Angelo Licata was one of two men charged with illegally possessing prescription drugs and marijuana at a downtown apartment in Oakland. Licata was charged with felony possession of the pain killer, Vicodin, and two counts of misdemeanor possession of other various prescription narcotics, police said."

If you read between the lines here it's pretty easy to see that the middle aged, addict son killed the elderly father either out of revenge for turning him in or for cutting him off...

Stay safe.

Drew
