Night vision for a tank crew member?

If it is a night vision rig, I'd like to have something like it to check out what all is out roaming in the "back 40" at night!

Wow, you guys are good ! They are Russian Tank Commander night vision goggles converted to use a 9-volt battery. They were supposedly in working condition and came with an infrared flashlight of some kind to increase their effective range. Priced at $250. Bet I'd be the only one in the neighborhood with these ! Hmmmm, wonder if these would be good for deer hunting at night ???

They are from the 70's, so no telling how much time is on the tubes. I am sure just about any modern russian gen 1 civilian stuff will out perform them.

But for coolness factor they are hard to beat. I would be sorely tempted to buy them myself.

Some of the surplus Russian NVG set ups reportedly released dangerous X ray radiation. At least that the story floating around at one point when a bunch of the surplus ones hit the market. Might want to be careful if you actually try using them.

ATN brand, newly made, Gen 1 goggles run about 270 on Ebay. Though 250 might be worth it as a militaria item if one is into tanker gear. If it is a Gen 1 set up, it's probably highly dependent on the IR illuminator, since Russian tubes weren't as good at light gathering as the early U.S. units like the Starlight scope.

If you're looking for gear to actually use extensively, you might want to try to find a PVS14 or the older PVS7. I recently obtained a PVS14 and am happy with it as a new playtoy.

Tube life on all NVG is limited. Not sure what the tube life on a Russian set is.

Might get dangerous or at least interesting sneaking around in a alley at 3am with them!

then yer gonna want the tank to play with too

Actually, it is probably easier to find a decent T55 or T62 Soviet tank than it is the find the 70's era goggles.
