Greetings from S.E. Texas. I promise (if you boys will help me remember on August 14, 2015) to go out back at 3 p.m., with 911 on standby for heat prostration and duplicate photo.

Turn about, is indeed, fair play. Hope you birds are doing ok up there? Ya'll have had way more than you need and I hope it clears up for ya soon.

Stay warm and careful.

That's just mean, I think I will take the motorcycle out for a spin to help me get over it. After all, it is 45 degrees here today.

I didn't have many day's warmer than that last summer.:)

Was zero this morning when I got up. 5 ft of snow in the last two weeks. Another big blow starting now with 50 mph winds and 18+ snow. I've had to burn vacation days just to get cleaned up for another hammering.

On the flip side.... I HATE heat. It must be nice now but wouldn't want to be there in the hot months. Enjoy. We'll keep you filled in.

Regards

Yeah, it's awful down here in Florida, too.

We had a big trap shoot scheduled for this week (We have big shoots all winter since the snowbirds are here-very few in the summer) and it was cancelled!

Actually moved a couple of weeks as it is sooooooo cold the Club thought no one would show up to shoot.

It is nearly 56, right now and actually made it up to about 58 today.

Wayyyyy too cold to be outside shooting.

On a serious note, I think our bodies are different that you northern folks. If it is below 60, we just don't go out and do much (at least those of us who are retired). There are exceptions, but those folks are either recent transplants or simply nuts.

If it's below 70, we wear sweaters with jackets and complain about the chill.

But, it's so much better than being where the snow is.

It's 66°F in the shade right now, but it was over 78°F at the range this morning.

I'd trade this so called "good weather" for reasonable gun rights in a second.

I don't know, there's a certain something to be said about four wheeling in the snow up in the West Virginia mountains.
I kinda like seasons. Each season has it's own unique beauty out here.

-8* this morning, and made it to 18* when the snow began to fall about 2 pm. Gale force winds will follow the next foot of global warming, here.
Undeterred, Valentine's Day feast at home by the fire, is on schedule.

Yes, I agree, winter has its beauty. But winter is also cold. It just gets old having to deal with the cold and crowds and scads of impatient drivers hurrying to get someplace else all the time. Hmmmm...maybe it's not winter I need to get away from.

Just pretend this is witty.

The body adapts to temperature changes. My son lives in southern AL and if it goes below 50, he complains about how cold it is. My daughter's boyfriend had to come up from Austin to MA last week. He couldn't wait to get back and he lived up here all of his life until 2013.

About 20 years ago I was at the annual high school football game here in town. I was talking to a motor cycle officer from Miami and he commented on the local PD having their motor cycles on the road in the 30 degree weather. I told him that they would ride them until the first snow and that Boston PD road all year round unless there was snow or ice on the road.

He told me that if it dropped below 65, they parked the bikes and went into cruisers because it was too cold to ride. I commented that up here, 65 is just about ideal motor cycle weather.

I found out a few years later, that Pittsburgh PD motor cycles are on the road 365 days a year. During the winter, they put side cars on for stability, but they ride. They even rode through that blizzard they had back in 2010 or 2011.
