Hi from the Low Lands

John, welcome! I was privileged to visit your lovely country several times in the 1970's when I was stationed in Germany. I was even more honored to be a member of the 3D Armored Div Nijmegen team for the Vierdaagse in 1976. Welcome! We look forward to hearing from you as your collection grows.. as it assuredly will if allowed! :)

Again, many thanks all!

@Model52guy: The beer situation has only become better since the 1990s - lots of great examples available in any supermarket nowadays, not just lagers either. But having been born & raised in a small town nearly on the Belgian border (15 miles to the North of Antwerp, so just on Dutch soil) the plentiful availability of magnificent abbey and trappist brews was never a problem even back then.

@Trooperdan: In 1976 I was about to celebrate my 6th birthday when you were toiling away on the Zevenheuvelenweg (and others)... Hats off to you!
As a uni student in Nijmegen in the early 90s - graduated in july 1993 - I somehow never got around to participating in the Marches but I've done plenty of walking and cycling in the area. Fond memories.

Incidentally, I did most of my national army service playing principal euphonium in the Fanfarekorps der Genie (Fanfare Band of the Engineers), we played several times at US bases in Limburg (eg Brunssum) but never in Germany.

Yes, I'll add more topics this week. Sadly I've already had to let go of two revolvers, one as a partial trade in for a new CZ527 MTR Varmint in 223R and the other because I had an issue with it (more on that separately). They were a 617 Target Champion and a 686-1, respectively.

Unfortunately sport shooters are only allowed the posession of 5 firearms in total at any one time here, and the whole process is very strictly monitored and regulated... Not to mention expensive.
