I have a 686 SSR which has interchangable front sight blades. Brownells has replacement fo front blades in several heights. Can anyone advise on the proper height to use with the stock rear sight?

SPECS: Steel, black, matte finish. .813" (20.6mm) long. Available in .208", .250", and .310" heights.

These are the options offered. Howard

I put the .250" on my 686SSR and 627PC. Works fine. I needed the .300" for my 610 because it has a higher rear sight.

I just mailed mine back to Brownells as they sent me the wrong foot on the sight, even though it was in a properly labeled cellophane bag ... be careful when you receive yours that is the identical shape to what is on your SSR from the factory.

Thanks for the heads up on the foot. I am prone to hurry and order things and then leave them in the bag till it strikes my fancy to do the install.

Sorry for the late bump: Just received my .250" HiVIZ red front sight for my SSR, and I can NOT get it on. I've tried for the last hour and a half! My fingers are sore and I'm NOT happy! I can get the factory ramp on and off with no trouble, but the HiVIZ is being a pain. The actual part that goes into the gun doesn't look exactly the same as the factory part, which is more "fluted" in shape likely to make it easier to install..

Anyone got any tips, here? :(

*EDIT*

Did it!! Finally, after almost 2 hours of struggling. The key is to have the HiViz at a VERY steep angle as you insert the rear of the sight into the revolver. What a pain! But it's done, yay!
