I recently aquired a Model 411. I absolutely love this weapon for the obvious reasons, price, feel, dependability, de-cocker, single or double action. This weapon has everything that a weapon costing twice as much would have. Now what I don't like, this weapon is obviously a "BRADY BILL ERA" weapon, all I seem to be able to find is 10 & 11 round mags for it.... does anybody know of any higher cap mags that will retro fit or am I just stuck having to carry two extra mags all the time to feel I have adaquate ammunition to feel secure? I carry this weapon in a "inside" the waistband concealment holster at its so light and comfortable.... I have other holsters that fit this frame with mag pouches but I really love the simple inside the waist holster. Any body have any info? Also I can't find a price for this pistol anywhere, I picked mine up in very good condition for 200 bucks. I'm very satisfied with that price and feel like I practically stole the weapon. Are my feelings correct? Thanks for the info

Firstly, I think you got a very good deal on your 411.

I'm no expert on the matter, but I'm not aware of any factory mags with an increased capacity and I'm not certain that I would trust any such mag that I found. I recommend staying with the factory mag and packing an extra one (or two) if you feel the need for more available rounds.

Thanks for the reply, I have a double mag holder i guess i'll just have to deal with it.... I felt like I got a good deal, i couldn't find any for sale anywhere to refrence it to, but I felt very very good about it. thanks again for the reply

Even if you could find extra-capacity magazines for Smith and Wesson guns, how would carrying 15+1 rounds (or 30+1 rounds  ) make you feel more secure?

Show me even one example where a civilian/citizen with a CCW fired, of necessity, more than 11 rounds in a self-defense situation?

At a minimum, there is a lawyer attached to each one of those bullets.

I like the 411 too.

I do not believe that S&W ever made more than 11 round mags for this or any other of the 3rd gen .40's (4006). I carry on mag in the gun and two in the pouch...totaling 31 rounds which is certainly plenty.

PS. I bought a bunch of the ones CDNN had for $9.99...might work for you as well.

The 411 and the other full size S&W .40's show how stupid the magazine limit was. The "High Capacity" magazine for the .40's was 11 rounds and the "Standard Capacity" was 10 rounds. Aparently 1 round makes one a safer gun owner.

Anyway the 411 is a nice pistol. It has most of the features of a 4003/4004/4006, but had a better price without losing any important features. The whole S&W 40 cal series is very reliable and accurate.

Can't show you the first example, but I do assure you my friend that if I ever am in need of 34 rounds of ammunition ifor my pistol in a single "scenario" I will have them on me. I spent 15 years in the military, this had good effects and bad on my personal life..... the good is i'm always prepared, the bad is i'm overly paranoid from 2 tours in Takrit and 1 in Kabul. I would much rather know that I have access to extra ammunition just in case, because if I don't if they day ever does come when I can give you an example, more than likely I will be incapable because I will be layed down in Arlington with an empty pistol that was useless. Not trying to be a smart *** by any means I just try to always expect the unexpected and try to be prepared for anything.

While ya'll are on the Topic....

I have searched everywhere for a 411 .40 cal mag. It's either get another mag or get rid of the gun. S & W website shows a 10 round that fits the 411 and another gun, but are out of stock. Would like an 11 round.. Where can I find one? Any Help?

The "high cap" magazine for the S&W 4006 Series and the later Value Series of the same gun, the 411, is the standard 11 shot magazine. Your pistol is named 411 because it means .40 caliber, 11 shots. The same meaning applied to the 9mm twin, called the 915 - 9mm, 15 shots. When the 1994 AWB was passed, those models changed to 10 round capacity and were called 410 and 910, respectively.
