Over in the bump stock thread, a number of people have made reference to attempts to ban "high capacity" magazines. I almost put this there, but decided it needed its own thread.
"High capacity magazine" is just more made up media/political BS. In most cases what they are referring to are actually standard capacity magazines. They are made for the number of rounds which the makers of the firearm intended for it to carry.
Yes, there are high capacity mags. An example being the extended pistol magazine which hold up to twice as many rounds as the original. These are actual "high capacity" magazines.
But for the most part, the antis and the media are attempting to demonize the standard size magazine as being evil in some way. Just as they did with the term "assault rifle".
And yet, I see it everyday. Honest, pro-2nd gun owners use that erroneous term on a regular basis. The media/antis have made the term so common that even we are using it. :(
And that is completely ignoring the fact that, with a little practice, magazines can be changed in two seconds or less.
So just as many of now refer to ARs, AKs and such as "Modern Sporting Rifles", I say we should stop playing their game. They are "Standard Capacity" magazines. Let's call them what they really are.
If we just start using this term in normal conversation or politely correcting those using the wrong term. Just maybe we can start to make a dent in public perception. ;)

I've got mags......

I've got mags with a capacity of 5 to 30. It makes absolutely no difference which one I use because none of my guns have ever hurt a solitary soul. It wouldn't matter if I had a full auto with a 100 round drum. The same holds true. It wouldn't even matter if I had a 'bump stock'. Same.

Off topic but this reminded me of when i was in 10th grade or so and my brother was in Vietnam (Riverine Ranger/Recondo (75 Ranger) in the 9th I believe, around 68-9). He wrote to my father requesting 30 round magazines as all they were issuing were 20 rounders. My father searched around and with some difficulty found some 30 rounders and shipped them to him.

New Jersey rests easy knowing it is illegal in the Garden State to put a bayonet lug on a semi auto rifle with a flash hider

Regardless of how many rounds a magazine holds, it's either a single stack, double stack/staggered, or, drum magazine. I'm not too sure where the amount of ammunition starts for it to become 'high capacity'. More 'anti' gobbly goop.

Gun owners are their own worst enemy. It's not just hi-cap magazines. You constantly hear gun owners saying such things as "Can anyone recommend a good assault rifle," "I want to add a sniper rifle to my arsenal", "My friend has a Saturday Night Special, what can you guys tell me about it?", and so on and so on. I'm surprised we still have any rights left at all.

For I don't know how long the anti people and their sycophants in the media have controlled, framed the argument along with perception, that "everybody" knows what euphemisms mean and it's engrained. That's the problem.

Don't forget the.....

New Jersey rests easy knowing it is illegal in the Garden State to put a bayonet lug on a semi auto rifle with a flash hider

Don't forget the 'Thumbhole' stock. Having one in combo with a grenade launcher, straight forward grip or a suppressor morphs an otherwise 'safe' gun into a deadly one.:confused::confused:

High Capacity magazines

Ruger mini- ...............more than 5..... so said Bill! :D

Ruger 10/22.... more than 10....... I guess size mattered to Bill

AR ...........in the 70s more than 20.....now more than 10......... or 5 if you are hunting.

Semi Auto pistol..... in the 80s autos with 15round magazines these guns were called "Wonder-9s" and a good thing ....... then more than 10 became a bad thing..... have heard more than 7 is the new high-cap..

The Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooter, who didn't live in Pittsburgh, had an AR... but he also had 3 .357sig Glocks.............so I guess a "New York" reload will be banned!

So new,"common sense" laws are recently being proposed for "The Burgh" to make living within the City limits safer.

The new City Ordnance will be ......

If you are going to come to Pittsburgh with the intent to kill people it is illegal for you to carry more than one gun holding a total of 10 rounds in the magazine.

I know I feel safer already................ knowing that any terrorist I might run into on the streets of the Burgh ........ is limited to one gun and "low -capacity" magazine . :D

PA has a pre-emption statute. The City will probably be hearing from my honorary nephew soon. He is one of the premier firearms law attorneys in PA.

I think I know of whom you speak..... I've taken a few of his Continuing Legal Ed. courses. This whole thing is such a joke............ with no common sense attached!

They dealt with Philadelphia trying to have it's own gun laws back in the 70s and 80s ... in the "new" Pa Constitution.

Bet you show these folks some video of IDPA/USPSA shooters w/ 8round 1911s ..... they would c--- their pants. Heck I'm a lot slower and I probably make them pee their nickers. :D

It's ALL ABOUT disarming our Country! "Death by a Thousand Cuts"! Today they will ban 30 rounds, tomorrow 20, then ten, then five,....... etc. The know they can not take them all away in one felt swoop, so they choose to do what they know works for them. While we fight for what makes sense and is just common sense to most intelligent people, they know EXACTLY what they are doing - and all the time the uninterested public at large just doesn't "get it" nor do they pay attention or really care. :(

NOTE: As much as I hate to admit this, it seems the Anti's are smarter and more efficient at getting their way then we are! That needs to change or we will all be playing "shooting videos" instead of the real deal.
