High capacity magazines rant

Bet you show these folks some video of IDPA/USPSA shooters w/ 8round 1911s ..... they would c--- their pants. Heck I'm a lot slower and I probably make them pee their nickers. :D

And if they saw me working the bolt on a Springfield rifle faster than Gary Cooper did in "Sgt. York" they would collapse with the "vapors."

I'm wondering about what's next in states that have enacted magazine capacity limits. Will they limit the number of magazines you can own? Will there be a waiting period between magazine purchase and taking possession? Will internet magazine purchases be forbidden? If you have a license to carry and want to carry spare magazines, will you also need a concealed magazine permit? Will magazines have to be registered? (That, of course, would require magazine serial numbers.) Will there be a requirement for a "smart magazine" that will only load in the specific gun to which it is registered?

While I wrote this tongue-in-cheek, sad to say, some of these could happen.

I notice with larger capacity magazines I tended to go through more ammo faster. It was the cool look some are after. Now my cz85db in 9mm I can use standard hi cap mags at the range and at home. For ccw carry it’s ten rounds only. My large capacity mags are registered.

Large capacity mags are ok if you like them good for you. I’m on your side.

Gun owners are their own worst enemy. It's not just hi-cap magazines. You constantly hear gun owners saying such things as "Can anyone recommend a good assault rifle," "I want to add a sniper rifle to my arsenal", "My friend has a Saturday Night Special, what can you guys tell me about it?", and so on and so on. I'm surprised we still have any rights left at all.

Add to that those who aren't really gun right advocates, but are gun privilege advocates. As long as their little corner of the sporting world is still allowed, they don't care what happens to the rest.

The idea is to create a Surveillance and Snitch Society, spread fear, mistrust, suspiciousness.
We are our own worst enemy in that many of us will not back down,, will not compromise, be bullied and intimidated. The Spirit of '76 still lives.

We are getting disarmed because we can't behave ourselves with firearms is one of the HUGE reasons it continues to happen. All I have to do is go ut for a drive in the country and see all the road signs with bullet holes in them. I don't even need to read the paper to see how many murders and armed robberies there are. We will be squeezed until all are locked in a closet with no lights twiddling our thumbs and wondering what happened. Unless of course we choose to recognize far to many of the spray and pray crowd are causing issues and yes it is happening. I even witness it at the rifle range. We shouldn't give in but do need to challenge the current way of thinking.

Mag capacity laws are just useless rules to kill by. If making murder a crime does not keep criminals from killing, why would anybody think rules to kill by would reduce murders. The only people following the rules would not murder anybody no matter how many rounds their gun has in it.
I live in Kolorado and everyday a new level of stupid is achieved. The mag capacity ban is just the beginning. I’ve been here 63 years as a 3rd gen native and am amazed every day at the depths of stupid Kolorado has achieved in the last 8 years. It’s already to late to save what was once a wonderful place to grow up. Now, I’m thinking Wyoming and a border wall.

Who cares since they took my bumpstock away.:rolleyes:
Just got my inline muzzleloader out and cleaned it up. Will they ban those and make me go flintlock ? :p
Will anyone care?

The California mentality is spreading Eastward! People leaving Calif. are moving to other states and bringing with them the wonderful Socialist concepts so prevalent in Calif. and imposing them upon other states. I think the Trump wall should change direction and be along the western borders of AZ and NV and along the southern border of OR!

Off topic but this reminded me of when i was in 9th grade or so and my brother was in Vietnam (Riverine Ranger/Recondo in the 9th I believe, around 67). He wrote to my father requesting 30 round magazines as all they were issuing were 20 rounders. My father searched around and with some difficulty found some 30 rounders and shipped them to him.

Interesting. When I was in-country, (69-70), all we had was 20rd mags, never saw a 30 rounder, didn't know they made them. Fast forward to 1975, when Saigon fell. Seemed like every NVA crashing the gate at the Presidential Palace had an M-16 with a 30rd mag. Guess the 30 rounders got there after I left.

Too much media and Hollywood we have heard for years. We have adapted their terminology.

I'm not the only one here who owns a machinegun. There is a real big difference between a semi-auto pistol with a 10-round magazine and a machinegun with a 10-round magazine. Or a 5-round magazine.

I agree whole heartedly, this high capacity magazine stuff is pure garbage. Most law-abiding citizens that follow the law don't use their magazines maliciously. Legislators don't need to criminalize possession of magazines that require 3 hands of more (or removing one's shoes) to count the capacity of a magazine in order to additionally charge a criminal with throw-away charges.

Enforce existing laws to their entirety when real criminals break the law.

Ever wonder how many of us here could keep pace with our revolvers against a Browning HiPower with standard magazines when accuracy counts? Next thing you know, stripper clips, speedloaders, and speed strips will be in liberal's sights!

That's what I call......

High Capacity magazines

Ruger mini- ...............more than 5..... so said Bill! :D

Ruger 10/22.... more than 10....... I guess size mattered to Bill

AR ...........in the 70s more than 20.....now more than 10......... or 5 if you are hunting.

Semi Auto pistol..... in the 80s autos with 15round magazines these guns were called "Wonder-9s" and a good thing ....... then more than 10 became a bad thing..... have heard more than 7 is the new high-cap..

The Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooter, who didn't live in Pittsburgh, had an AR... but he also had 3 .357sig Glocks.............so I guess a "New York" reload will be banned!

So new,"common sense" laws are recently being proposed for "The Burgh" to make living within the City limits safer.

The new City Ordnance will be ......

If you are going to come to Pittsburgh with the intent to kill people it is illegal for you to carry more than one gun holding a total of 10 rounds in the magazine.

I know I feel safer already................ knowing that any terrorist I might run into on the streets of the Burgh ........ is limited to one gun and "low -capacity" magazine . :D

...a 'common sense' gun law.
