Does anyone know what the symbol between the ".357 CTG." and "Highway Patrolman" roll mark signifies?

There was a thread a month or so ago about that and it was a real runaway. Worthwhile and enjoyable reading. If I have time later, I'll try and hunt it up for you.

I was sworn to secrecy by an ancient Celt shaman what they symbol means ,but since this is the S&W Forum, I'll let it slip out just this once......

it means: "Put me in danger and I'll kick their ***!"

PS: Don't tell anybody I told you

Lil' off topic but.... Im thinking I'd like to send my 6" 28-2 in to Bowen to be converted to 45 Colt. Im wondering when they remove the caliber and restamp the new caliber do they leave the mark and the words alone?

I would think when they convert it to 45 Colt it is no longer a "Highway Patrolman" and should NOT be called as such.:( HP signifies N-frame .357. It would just be a converted ex-model 28 N-frame to my mind. Why not just buy a Model 25-5?

If I could find a 25-2 in my price range, I would. I have a so-so HP from the late '70s that needs some love and seems to be a perfect candidate.
