I set up a tent/table at the end of Veterans drive, on the corner as you go uphill to park in Mike Barnes's back yard. Been there for the last 10 yrs. Took Sat afternoon off to dove hunt with my son and his son. Will be back there Sunday a.m.
The BATF were EVERYWHERE this year. They are enforcing the buy/sell to only in-state residents. I am from SC, and with my C&R I was told I could buy anything that fell under my license (over 50 yrs old), but if I wanted to sell to a Va resident, I had to go in the gunshow area and transfer the gun thru a Va FFL, who could sell it to the Va resident. MANY of the attendees are out of state, NC is only 15 miles away, and there were a lot of pissed off people and dealers there. Many dealers on Gun Alley packed up Friday morning and left. the BATF visited every table that had guns displayed, which I think would be a 1000 or so, and advised what should be happening.
Hillsville had since the 60's been pretty wide open with FTF transactions at tables or on the street. Not anymore. I hear the very liberal Governor and his AG called the ATF in. Also heard a Va dealer in the gunshow requested their presence to control out of state sales as a way to trim the competion. Who really knows. Just not the same.
