The poll question is already biased and skewed:

Should private ownership of guns be banned completely?

Yes - it would be a giant step forward in the fight against crime.

No - guns are too much a part of American culture and history.

The poll question attempts to associate guns either as instruments of crime or as a cultural fetish.

Let's see poll choices phrased as:

Yes - it would be magical if we could all live in a crime-free utopia

No - we have a right to self-defense

The fact remains the only real poll that counts is the one on election day. So vote.

I know well that a version of my response has been repeated millions of times but it still staggers me that a functional human being can be so delusional as to think that banning guns will reduce crime. Again, as any reasonable person knows, the criminals just don't obey laws, many law abiding citizens would disarm, the criminals won't. As a signature line I like goes, "no one is useless, some serve as a bad example" wow do Richard Daley, Bloomberg and the Wash. DC mayor and others illustrate that point. Don

Well, does anyone think that if gun ownership were to be banned, that everybody is just gonna give up their guns? Realizing the advantage that it would give to criminals a person would have to be touched in the head to willingly hand over their weapon or weapons to whoever is brave enough to come get them. Maybe they could come up with a new reality show called "survivor, Ozark Mtns." about the guys coming to collect firearms from law abiding citizens who are now criminals for owning a firearm. Maybe in a pink Cadillac. No banning firearms would be a very dangerous thing for everyone involved.
just my redneck opinion,
Peace,

Barb you are right, fishing for the answer they want. Typical liberal nonsense.

If every one will just turn their guns over to me, I at least will be happier and sleep more peacefully (I will accept any S&W in shoot able condition).

Internet polls are not scientific and therefore are meaningless. Does anyone know the results, if any, of any recent scientific polls on gun ownership.

This one may not be scientific (no polls are) but since it is being done by the media entering a no would be a good thing. This news rag needs to see that being anti-gun would be bad for their circulation. I just voted a No and at this point it is 52% yes, 48% no.

The results so far are bogus. No valid poll in recent years has ever shown anything but a strong sentiment that people have the right to own and use firearms.

Any poll that says otherwise has been jury rigged. Don

Aren't we well past this nonsense? It doesn't matter what the polls say. The vote has already been cast--twice--by the US Supreme Court.
