I remember seeing a replacement for the HOgue grip scres that instead of a screw head ended in a stud not unlike a stud on the forend of a rifle to which a quick detachable swivewl is attached. I would like to know if anyone knows where these could be bought. I really don't want to pay Hamilton Bowen $50 for his rendition-there must be cheaper alternatives out there.

Hogue Lanyard screw

This would be the type found on the S&W 629 Trail Boss; commonly known as a lanyard ring or screw. I am not sure, but you may want to contact the Hogue company, they may be able to supply them. You also may want to try Brownells. Hope this helps...

I've got a PC 629 Extreme, and a PC 460 and they both came with factory slings, and Hogue grips held on by screws with studs for standard quick release swivels. So you may be able to get them right from Springfield. If you want to use wood Hogues though, they have to be modified by Hogue for the larger screws. They did a set for me and I think they charged $20.

I have a Smith 500 with very short barrel, 3" I think, that came in the "Emergency kit" with orange Hogue grips if that's the type you mean. I called S&W and they sent me two for free. They screwed right into my black Hogue grips on my eight inch 500.
