I'm sure this comes down to personal preference, but I wanted opinions on why some shooters like the finger grooves on the grips, and others don't. I want to put a set of these on my 929 and 627.
I put a Hogue Big Butt on my Bill Jarvis-built NRA Action 686 back in the early 1990s (attached). It was designed for prone shooting and worked extremely well. The finger groves gave me no issues at all.
It is a matter of individual fit to your hand. I have some that do fit my hand well, but have tried others that do not fit. Different mfg have different spacing of finger grooves and different width's and depth of the grip. Sometimes finding the "perfect" grip is a long trial & error process.
These fit my hand reasonably but was lucky enough to buy them directly from Mr Hogue at a large shooting match, and he sanded and fit to fit me.
