Holosun 407k on M&P M2.0 Compact?

I recently got an S&W M&P 2.0 Compact, optics ready with the flat trigger. It came with a baggie full of adapter plates, but the guide in the owner's manual doesn't mention Holosun dot sights at all.

The sight I have my eye on is the Holosun HE407K-GR X2, with a 6 MOA green dot. I've seen some comments that it has a "semi non standard" mounting pattern. I asked S&W if one of the adapter plates they supplied would work, but they told me to contact the manufacturer. I emailed Holosun, but so far no response.

So - IS the subject sight compatible with my new optics ready S&W, or should I choose something else, maybe one of the slightly larger 407C series Holosuns?

Have the 407C on my 2.0 10mm with the flat trigger. I ordered a c and h precision adapter plate after mine sheered off after a few hundred rounds. So far so good. Think the 407k is for the micro compacts. Also you have to remove it and rezero to change the battery. You don’t on the 407c.

CORRECTION: you do not have to remove the small Holosun (407k)to change the battery.

I'm not certain that bold part is true. At least the 407K I looked at last weekend certainly seemed to have a side tray for the battery, and that is what the online owner's manual shows as well.

It is rather small. It would be nice if somebody had a picture of all of the brands together so a buyer - if they had seen one or two real world examples - could base their decision on that.

Like the OP, I also have an OR M&P Compact. Mine is a 3.6, and to my eye, the K series from Holosun looks a little small, but the C series looks huge. Don't get me wrong, I love my 3.6, but it's svelte design looks thinner than traditional square like XD or Glock, making the bigger dots overhang the slide. But it's obviously bigger than sub compacts like the Shield series, so the micro dots look like a shrunken head on the slide. It's really hard to find an optic that is a quality design that does not look goofy small or goofy big, within a reasonable price range, for that particular gun.

The problem with the 407K is it uses the Shield RMS footprint, except for some reason they didn't put the holes in the optic for the two rear posts. It is possible to use the #6 plate, (going off of memory here some someone correct me if that's not the right one,) but you have to grind off the rear posts, which I suppose isn't a big deal.

The 407C uses the Trijicon RMR footprint, which is the #1.

M&P Compact OR with Holosun HE507C-GR-X2

A few months back I purchased a new M&P 9mm Compact 4 inch Optic Ready with the flat trigger and the Holosun HE507C-GR-X2. After trying all of the plates that came with I found one of the plastic adapter plates fit fine for mounting the 507C to the M&P Compact, used the longer mounting screws with a drop of LocTite and all is fine.

Having the choice of the three reticles is great, very happy with the Holosun.

You are correct. I was thinking of the Crimson trace Rad vs Rad Micro. Their small red dot you have to remove to change the battery. Among others. Both Holosuns have the side battery tray. A feature I really like about them.

C&H makes a plate that you are looking for its pricey but it works fine. I have a 407K on my 4" 10mm and when you use the sight with both eyes as it should be used the window is fine

Update: I got a 407k with 6 MOA green dot, and purchased the C&H adapter plate. I "dry" mounted it first (without loctite) and something wasn't quite right - the front part of the plate just behind the ejector port didn't get drawn down to the top of the optic cut in the slide - I could see light underneath. The gap would take a 0.003" feeler gauge, but not 0.004". I thought it might be debris or a burr, but after a little checking, I found the culprit - the pin holding the extractor was protruding just a few thousandths of an inch.

It only took a moment to take care of that and with the next dry fitting the plate was drawn down tight. Sight is now mounted per C&H directions, seems to come right up "on target" for me. Looking forward to my next range trip to get it sighted in.
