I am looking for a holster to use while hunting with my 6.5" Model 29 with an Ultradot 25mm.

I would prefer something made of leather, with 6+ ammo loops, that will hold the gun across my chest.

I am interested in your thoughts. I have seen the Hunter Brand that Midway sells:

Hunter 68-200 Scoped Pistol Bandolier Holster Right Hand Double-Action Revolvers 6-1/2" Barrel Leather Brown - MidwayUSA

Also this holster:

The second holster doesn't ride in the center of the chest. Not sure which would work out better.

Those of you who have hunted with a scoped revolver, do you have any insight?

Am I better off going with some ugly vinyl holster from Cabela's?

+1 for Simply Rugged's Chesty Puller system. Very handy for large wheelguns that just won't belt carry.

You'll have to discuss your scope-dot use. I assume that he can cut some relief along the holster to accomodate.

I've got a pair of his pancakes, belt and Chesty Puller. I like his work.

Good luck in your search.

I have long used the Bianchi Hush System (across the chest). It is not leather but nylon that wears like iron, fully protects your handgun (I have the optional flap) and can be worn for hours in rough country without fatigue. I have carried my S&W Model 29 (8 3/8's barrel), Ruger Red Hawk (7½") and a TC Contender in this holster.

I have worn a day pack with it all day long with out a problem.
