Holster carry; pants belt or separate belt

I use a Del Fatti or Milt Sparks 1 1/2" leather belt every day.

Works great to hold the pants up.

Works great to hold the gun too.

Simply put: one belt for both pants and gun.

MOD 57-1 with Mesquite grips and GUNBELT & Ranger belt

Here is Mod 57-1 w/Mesquite grips . This gun belt and holster were made by Rodney at UPTMOR SADDLERY (west of WACO)
The Ranger belt was made by Daniel Uptmor , owner of UPTMOR SADDLERY. They have taken care of all my Military gear, Saddle repair, Chaps , and gun belts for 35 years. Great people.

A real Texas Ranger did it this way, Kiowa Jones who lived until 1928 or so. Not anyone to mock, Kiowa was quoted as saying, "if a man I've shot is still standing after, go on over and see what's holding him upright". Real gunmen obviously didn't worry about such things as which belt, they just 'made do' with what they had:

To keep the holster properly positioned, am sewing on an extra belt loop, sometimes 2. Mostly to keep holster from sliding rearward. Not about to pay a tailor to do it, but wear mostly jeans when not wearing overalls. Outside of cowboys in movies and police officers, have never seen someone wear a separate gun belt over a pants belt. And am not counting hunting holsters.

For the past 10 years or so I've been using a 1.5" 5 stitch Wilderness Tactical Frequent Flyer belt with my Wranglers. Infinitely adjustable for IWB and OWB carry . Often carrying a Sparks double IWB single stack mag pouch between my Wranglers and the belt over my left hip pocket..

Full size pistol, always a carry belt. My PPK/s in a Sneaky Pete goes on the regular belt. Size and weight matter. Even I've thought about a Sam Browne for balance.

I never use a regular pants belt when using a belt holster and magazine pouch and or or ammo carrier. They are just not stiff or supportive enough. I use Kramer Leather Horsehide products and belts exclusively when carrying. NOT one belt on top of another, just the gun-belt.

Two belts ... a pants belt and a gun belt would be a dead give-away in a concealed carry situation ... You would wear one good belt that is made for concealed carry , and wear it like a pants belt , through the pants belt loops .
When hunting , working the farm or during open carry ... at a BBQ ... you wear your carved belt and holster rig , over your pants belt .
When you sit down to eat you remove your gun belt and holster , hang it on the back of your chair and eat your supper and you can leave your pants belt on ... to hold up your pants .

I only carry concealed. A few years ago, when I had more money that sense I ordered several holsters and matching belts from Lobo Leather, and have been Very pleased with each and everyone of my setups. They work very well at holding up my pants and supporting any holster I choose to carry.

In a moment of real insanity, I ordered an American Alligator belt, form Beltman to be used as a dress belt. Well hot damn it also works great as a gun belt. That along with my Doc B. floral carved holster is the rig I want to go to the grave with.
Ok, I am bragging, but I guess at 75 it's OK do a Little of that.

With that alligator belt and floral carved holster rig ... you need to attend a BBQ or two ... Show that rig off some !
That would be one sweet looking outfit !

I'm wearing my BBQ belt and holster when I go ...
I believe the Good Lord is a shooter too .

Agree with most here. A good CCW belt is the only way to go in the civilian environment. The only time I ever did the two belt rig was on duty. I still have a setup for that method. Why? Heck, I don't know, just the mindset to have one I guess.

I used the Kore belt for a while but went back to a leather belt specifically for EDC. Exception being in a suit, then the Kore "grey" belt comes out. I find the leather to be more comfortable all around. I did get a Kore leather belt as well but it just doesn't hold up much weight...

I only own 1.5 inch gun belts, and one 1.25 gun belt. I have owned nothing but reinforced gun belts for the last 40 or so years.

Colt

My favorite is the Daltech Bull Belt, grant it the belt is very thick so dress pants can present issues. I wear jeans most of the time outside of work, and in jeans it is the best belt I have owned hands down. Roughly 50$ and my first one looks as good as the new one I just bought a year later.

I have used 2 belts a couple times but If I need a lot of support I have suspenders that attach to the belt.
