Traded my Kel tec PF9 carry gun for a sweet S&W 13-3 357 mag. I loved the pf9 coming in at 12 oz but now I am naked. Looking in a few catalogs I see not many saying 13-3...I guess because they are discontinued. Will any K frame 3 inch be ok and is there a retention holster out there for this style. I know if I put it in my pocket I will have to get a pair of suspenders to hold up my pants. I would hate to be called a rapper....cheers.

Any holster for a 3 inch k frame should work. And certainly one of the forum's custom holster makers could set you up nicely. (I had a good experience with Lobo.)

By the way, did you trade your pf9 straight up for your 3 inch 13? If so, you got a killer deal!

I recently saw a bunch for sale on GunsAmerica that were specifically for a 3" K frame like this. They were black, thumb break, and for 3" barrel...seems like they were all $20 (used). Maybe Desantis...probably got a bunch of them from a police department. I recently went through the same thing and got a "Simply Rugged" (no thumb break) and I took a 4" holster to my shoe repair guy and got him to cut it down to a 3"...then I died it black myself and it looks pretty good. I put some Uncle Mike's round butt K-Frame grips on the 13 and I have a completely black setup. Good luck finding the holster, B

ps, found the holster on GunsAmerica...try this link...several more like it on there...

I have a 3" M65 (same exact gun in SS) and had a Kramer Horsehide Belt Scabbard made. It took a month and a half and cost a fortune, but along with their Horsehide Belt and Cartridge Carrier, it is the BEST system I have ever used in my 35+ years of totin', - no exceptions! Kramer's Horsehide stuff is the BEST, however I would make sure that you are going to like the M13 for a long time before doing the deed. There are other good holster makers all over this & other Forums, but to me, Kramer's Horsehide is unbeatable.

The 3" K-frames (10, 13, 64, 65) are probably one of the best defensive revolvers for concealed carry ever. Rugged and reliable, large enough to grip and shoot well, small enough to be discreetly carried.

In my opinion, a well-designed pancake-style holster worn just behind the strong-side hip will provide the best possible balance of comfort, accessibility, security, and concealability with the medium-frame revolvers.

I like the factory magna grips with a T-grip adapter. Another good alternative might be a set of the "boot grip" style grips.

Some of the more modern "short-barrel" ammunition in .38 Spl. +P should take full advantage of the 3" barrel and be much more comfortable than any magnum loads.

Great handguns, very "purpose" oriented.
