Hello,
As some of you know, I will be bringing home a brand new S@W 1911, E-Series, Stainless with tactical accessory rail in a couple of weeks.

I have been browsing shoulder rigs for this. I have mainly been looking at Alessi, Bianchi, and Galco. My trouble is I am having some issues trying to determine is any of these rigs will house my 1911 with the rail... The rigs I seem to be most interested in are the Galco Miami Classic, and the Galco Jack*** rig. In the pics shown, it doesn't look like the rail will be a problem, but I don't want to spend the coin on one and have it not fit..

Anybody have any recommendations or experience with a good shoulder rig for a full size 1911 with rail?

Thanks

Why not contact the manufacturers and see what THEY say?

Good point.

But I would still like some input from you guys too if you have any experience/recommendations/preferences... Kind of wondering if anyone here has a rig they like and works well for a tac rail 1911

Dooman I don't use a should rig, but what works well for one may not for you. I suggest finding a good store that carries an assortment of holsters in your area and try them on. I don't like wasting time or money ether but it is better to shop around in person than to mail order something you feel is **** and can't return for a refund. Just my opinion.

I think I found a winner! I like the idea of the backstrap that prevents the gun and mag pouches from swinging when bending forward, and also prevents the gun from swinging forward when drawing... Something else that's cool, the holster is designed so that it can be removed from the rig and carried on the hip.. What do you guys think?? Andrews Custom Leather Check out the "Monarch" rig....

Wish they had an email contact option.. I think I like this one, but want to make sure the tactical rail will ride in this holster.. Guess I'll give them a call tomorrow.....

For the last 10 yrs or so, I have worn a Galco Miami Vice shoulder holster while carrying a 1911. For the last two years, I have carried a S&W 1911 (full size) in the holster. It is worn daily all year with the exceptions of when I carry openly in a side holster. The holster is very comfortable and still does not show wear.

If'n I were to complain about something, it would be the number of times I had to readjust it before I got it to fit as it should.

I had to modify the holster to allow for a better fit since my gun has a ambi safety.

A good point of the Galco rig is that should you ever change guns, which there is no need of, all you have to do is get a replacement holster for another style gun.

Just watch out for the ladies that want to hug you. They get excited when they feel a gun on you.

I also have a Bianchi shoulder holster and I never was happy with the fit.

Update: I just called Andrews Leather and found out that they do offer the Monarch rig setup to accommodate the 1911 with the rail. I was also looking at "Bodyguard" rig from Alessi. Alessi seems to have a great reputation as well. But, I think I will be going with the Andrews Monarch due to the cross strap and the ability to remove the holster from the rig and carry on the hip. I like that extra versatility.

Andrews quoted me $256 shipped US Priority Mail, but he is about 3 months out with orders right now...

Being that Alessi is based in NY (where I live) the sales tax and shipping will bring their price just about even with the Andrews rig.. Here is their rig Alessi Holsters Bodyguard Holster for Smith & Wesson Guns: Bodyguard Smith & Wesson Alessi Gun Holsters I have read alot of good reviews on Alessi's products as well...
