Anyone here carry one of these awesome little sub-compact 1911s? Looking for some holster suggestions.

EDIT: My preferred method of carry is a leather gun belt and IWB at about the 3:00 position.

I have a 945-1 compact of about that size. Check the leather forum for the custom holster I had made by Lobo. It works great for me.

very little input as to how you want to carry your shorty . IWB , OWB, AIWB ?? I can tell you picking a holster that fills your needs and you like it is far harder than picking a handgun .

I've carried two alloy frame commander in one brand of Hybrid holster - smooth leather back half and kydex front half . Both commanders have polished blued slide & anodized frames . The older commanders goes back some 33 years and shows little if any other wear from my Comp-Tac hybrid than from the 13 years in a all will boned leather holster .

If a leather holsters is what you want try to besure it is lined with glove leather or suede or it will wear on your new baby ! If a owb carry you will find the pistol does not carry as tight to your body as a IWB .

My wife tried one of my comp-tacs for a couple weeks and wanted something smaller and softer . Shes 5-2 and a little bit . Her pistol is a polished SS kimber ultra and ordered Stealthgear Ventcore 1.0 and it has been her carry choice now for close to 11 or 12 years . We both carry around 3:00 higher on our sides .

Good luck with your choices .

Fair enough. I carry IWB at about the 3:00 position. And you're right, it took me a very long time to find the perfect belt and holster combo for my previous carry guns.

Standard 1911 holsters should work just fine. Try a Serpa.

Depending on what your other carry options are You may find a model for your 1911 will fill your needs .

My problems with most leather holsters is very limited ability if any at all to change the angle you carry . Most leather holster can have a set angleof carry before production say for a 4:30 carry !! If you need a change to something different once you have it , your stuck with what it is . Even most owb leather holsters are the same way . The better holster companies will build the angle or cant in the holster how you want it but down side is cost and wait time will say . I tried a highly regarded milt sparks summer carry holster some years ago . Reverse leather made for a smooth insides but the cant for how I carried was no good and the narrowness of the holster caused it to be uncomfortable on my hip for my preferred 3:00 or 3:30 so I sold it .

If OWB is an option check out Tucker Gun Leather . They build some of the finest leather holsters and at least they use to adjust cant for you ! I had one of there HF2 holsters for 15 years for cold weather carry after retirement . Only get used a few times a year but works very well . I see they now sell a OWB/IWB Hybrid with leather covering there polymer outer body . Smooth leather all around . Good option for ether inside the pants or outside . I will say for owb a holster made for the 4 or 4.25" slide models will carry the top of your pistol tighter to your body that one made just for your shorty 1911 . That might make a different . Again you have a wait time and higher cost . \\ I good hybrid holster is adjustable for ride height and angle that you carry .

Good luck !

MTR Custom Leather supports the S&W 3" 1911s with a variety of IWB options. MTR has a great reputation and their positive customer reviews echo my own.

I carry my S&W Pro Series 1911 45ACP in a Milt Sparks Summer Special. Also a Sparks #55Bn. You may be able to find one with a Google search. Otherwise the wait is 9 months. I can also recommend the Galco Summer Companion.
