Anyone have fond memories of a particular recipe or meal from your youth that you would be terrified to indulge in now? Mine would probably be Bacon, Wieners & Cheese...Mom served it up regularly: wieners wrapped in bacon (watch out for the toothpicks!) and roasted in the oven, served around a huge pile of whipped potatoes that were drenched in melted cheese...watch out arteries! How about you?

Fatty and greasy hot pastrami on rye served free of charge 'cause some nimrod thinks I'm "on the job". No thanks, I pay my own way, and only accept the lean stuff.

When my grandmother used to be fixing hamburgers, she would roll up the raw ground beef, add some salt and feed it to my brother and me. That was 50 years ago; we never got sick.

Bacon,wieners & cheese...yummy!

and a side of cheesy potatoes...double yummy!

I don't worry about fatty or hot-spicy foods. I intend to enjoy the few years I have left. But it kills me that I've become lactose intolerant in my old age. I love cheese and ice cream and whole milk and sour cream.

My dad used to make us eat liver - I don't eat that anymore.
His other *treat* was pickled pigs feet. Mmmmmm ---- NOT.

Oh - Foods we enjoyed that we'd be afraid to eat now.
Potato chips :(

Neighbor kid ate what his mom called a heart attack special. Marshmallow creme and Chocolate Nutella on Wonder Bread.

It's called tartar in French if you add an egg and $50 a plate, your Grandmother was Cosmoolitan. :D

Exactly my situation. I feel your pain Brother!
Funny thing. The Doc basically forced me onto cholesterol and BP pills a few years back. Now I can eat all the **** I want (except ice cream) and my numbers are still good! Thanks Doc :-)

That said, Boiled pigs feet dinner was a big treat when I was a kid. As i recall, it was 90% fat. Even I have my limitations these days.
