After roasting a whole chicken covered with all kinds of herbs and salt and pepper and having it for dinner I cut as much of the meat I can get.
Then boil what ever is still left in a pot till I get a good chicken broth.
Cut up celery, shallots, onions, sliced baby carrots and cook till tender.
Boil wide country egg noodles, put them all together in a pot.
Don't add any seasoning other then what was on the chicken such as rosemary, sage, garlic, salt & pepper.
My wife loves it, me, it's OK but you do have to add salt & pepper.
It is better then the stuff in a can that has been sitting who knows where for months....

Many centuries of Jewish mothers can't be wrong, and now have been proven right. There have been some studies in recent years that show real, honest-to-Mama chicken soup contains chemicals that actually can help symptoms of a cold or flu.

I've always known that. And that it's good for your mood.

I make it for friends who are sick or grieving. Often I use rice instead of noodles, and it's equally delicious. Especially with brown rice.

Well, the first wife couldn't cook so being Italian I did it then.
My true love now lied and said she didn't know how to cook.... :(
So, I did. Now she has been disabled since a bad car accident in 2000 I do everything around the house and still do the cooking.... :)

I like to make my own broth, take a whole chicken, a whole celery stock, whole onion cut in half don't peel it, whole fresh carrots, rosemary, thyme, sage, bay leaf, salt and pepper. cover with water, bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer, simmer one hour remove chicken, strain broth. Debone the chicken. add the dark meat to the broth. I like to make my own noodles. bring the broth to a boil drop the noodle in broth. enjoy
