Home made masks

If you've ever ridden motorcycles in colder climates, you might have one of those thin under-helmet balaclavas. A friend converted his: cut off the top and you're done.

I do look like a bank robber.

That's my plan. I'm sure I have some appropriate face coverings in the cabinet where we keep our riding gear.

I haven't been out yet since the cover your face recommendation went into effect but I have to do some grocery shopping later today. I'll have to see what others are doing.

Hey, I'll bet a full face helmet would work! :D

I've seen an ad for a baseball cap with a clear plastic face shield attached to it. At least it would stop a few of the coughed germs aimed at your face.

Our local hospital furnishes pattern and specifications and some material for making masks for the hospital for non-critical workers. My sister has been making them and we furnished a bunch of material and she is making us some. A nice paisley print.

The talking heads and some "officials" have been all over the tube telling us the best thing is to put on masks when we leave our houses. My wife is handy with a sewing machine and she has made up a few homemade masks.

Will play it by ear and as were not going too far or many places we might be using them. For now we do normal grocery shopping at a big store and get a couple take out diners at a local restaurant.

My doctors office called yesterday and instead of going to the office the nurse will call me at my appointment time Tuesday morning, record my vitals and then the doc will talk to me. We shall see how that works out!

Hanks Handkerchief

You don't need to wait for someone's permission to react,
and save your life or someone's.

Yesterday I ran into a way to make a Hankey Facemask.
In my Hankey collection I found several 21x21 Hankeys.

Followed Colin Hanks (yes Tom Hanks Son) instructions.
Easy Peeze quick washable Hankey Face Mask. I tuck
in the ends to each other to make it look more professionally
done. I use Rubber Bands instead of Hair Bands.

On my quick ration run this morning, a Cute Girl saw me with
my Hanks Hankey on and winked. Only thing is I wish she
could have seen just how Handsome I am underneath it.

The Best to you, and be Safe out there. Wear a Mask,
Wash Hands often, and have Situational Awareness to
what is going on around you.

My feelings about masks is "Couldn't hurt, might help." My wife's quilting group has been making them for hospitals, she made several for our own use and for some of the neighbors. As a quilter, she has lots of odds and ends pieces of cloth. She is making them with two layers of cloth with interfacing between the layers. That combination should filter well. I also had never heard of a N95 mask until recently.

My neighbor makes her masks with a HEPA filter sewn between the 2 layers of cloth. They're washable and re-usable. We've bought about 30 so far for friends and family. The lines for dry goods rival that of Costco! Everyone with a sewing machine is making them.

Have a number of camo neck gators of various makes for hunting and this time of year when mowing grass. I take one along now when venturing out into the community. Figure it can't hurt and may help staying healthy.

A Good Thing

One good thing about wearing a Face Mask is that,
I believe protects one self and others around you.

It has been found that a person could be Asymptomatic,
meaning; presenting no symptoms of disease.

That unknow Asymptomatic Person out there is what
Scares me the most.

This is why I think it's so important to have a Face Mask.

I also see that the Dept of Defense is saying Face Masks
are to be wore in their Buildings now.

The Best to you, and be Safe out there. Wear a Mask,
Wash Hands often, and have Situational Awareness to
what is going on around you.
