Well, finally I just found that about the NP50 : « that gun is in the Norinco catalogue it is not actually being made. We will probably never see them »
Also, it seems they ain't able to produce enough 1911 to satisfy the market.
Norinco has made an above decent 1911 for about 15 years now that I know for sure... probably even longer. Over on AR15.com the topic has came up often in the 1911 sub-forum lots of time since I became a member there in 08'... Would I want one over my Springfield TRP or Champion... ummmm, hell no. But I might take one over an American manufacturer that rhymes with the word, "Timber."
As to Norinco's "Mak-90", and previous "AKM's" that got past Customs before the Mak-90, in 1990' did... Those are stellar examples of the Ruski original. They ought to be... The Russians licensed the Chinese to make them and sent the specs and engineers to China to show them how it's done probably since the mid to late 1950's... I had a Mak-90 for over 20 years (de-banned it with US made/stamped parts to make it 922r compliant and installed a real pistol grip and stock on it.) I foolishly sold it to my little brother when I decided I was going to cartridge/caliber consolidate to only .223/5.56... That Mak-90 is a sewing machine of an AKM and they go for quite a bit these days on GB and other auction sites. In my opinion and lots of other too, the Premium is well deserved! Only original "Polytech" manufactured "Legend" series Milled Receivers made from blocks of Ordinance Steel... called the model (AKS-762) command a higher premium than the Norinco's do. The Polytechs are the Lamborghini's of the AKM world... I would have never sold a Polytech.
I since have been blessed to find a very nice, AKM with a milled receiver manufactured by Nodak-Spud, and the rest assembled into the milled receiver from Yugoslavian "M70AB" AKM parts kits, with an underfolder stock, grenade launcher flip up sights, slant muzzle brake; all in a Parkerized finish. Very accurate, very smooth running and as close to a Norinco as I'll ever come again for what a Norinco or Polytech commands these days... Yes, I admit its a "Century" branded (very hit or miss), but these M70AB parts guns were "Contracted-Guns" manufactured for Century on Contract. So they are well regarded and I certainly agree as it's my favorite Underfolder AKM I've gotten my hands on besides my buddies Polytech Underfolder.
Pics of my M70AB below from when I first got her... She's the "Home Fortress" gun that sits behind the entertainment center ready for that SHTF moment. Enjoy!
