For those who just run out of things to worry about, Hornady has a new intriguing product on the market. I picked up a box of Hornady "Zombie MAX" ammo in .40 S&W at the local gun show today. I'm not really sure why. Regardless, I plan to alternate rounds of Zombie MAX and Winchester Silvertips (left over from the 1990's) in a specially marked magazine for use should my community be infested with either zombies and/or werewolves.

Holy Water will make them all effective on werewolves, vampires, zombies, and most anything else!!
Sorry but WRONG. The holy water will help with Vampires but you will need Wolf-bane for Werewolves and only head shots will take out the Zombies, even if you shoot them with Zombie Ammo! :p

According to a google search, silver bullets are the medicine for werewolves and witches.

Wheres THE LONE RANGER, when you really need him and his " SILVER BULLETS" ? Oh wait ! ! , Thats ME ! !

I read the disclaimer on the Zombie Max ammo...it's not to be used on anyone/anything but Zombies...it apparently won't work on your ordinary lawbreaker...not that I'd be willing to be a test subject!

I've shot it in 9mm, .40, and .45------it is a cheaper version
of critical defense-----green insert vice red and brass case vice
nickle plated. Then in .380, I thought it was better than other
.380.

Same effect on stuff

I thank you for the info. Always head shots! Do have any spare wolfbane, JUST in case?? Be Safe.

I'm shooting up all my ammo before the end of december anyways.

I have Wolf-bane, Silver bullets, wooden stakes, holy water, plenty of ammo for head shots and a few other necessities "just in case"... ;)

Anybody have a good reload recipe using garlic powder?
YES, instead of 50/50% Beeswax and Crisco mix the Garlic Powder in @~4% and then 48/48% Beeswax and Crisco. That should work well unless you really feel you need more Garlic. You can up the Garlic to 5%... :p

I bought one box each in 12ga 00-buck, 45acp & 40S&W to keep as collector items.

IMO, it's a great marketing idea. I like it !! :D

It's good for all of us gun enthusiasts for the ammo manufacturers and gun manufacturers to be viable and healthy companies. So why not have a little fun and make some profit with the Zombie craze that's going on. ;)

Not to mention all the target suppliers who have cashed in big time on this, too.

Look on you tube or the hornady website and they have a zombie advertising video. I laugh my *** off watching it.

In an older Airweight? Are you sure? Mine doesn't have +5% on the barrel...
That's probably because those barrels were made before we about the possibility of the Zombie Apocalypse! Any post-WWII Steel or pre-lock Airweight will be fine with 5% but if you don't feel safe stay with 4% Garlic. :p

I read that the Spices Added to Apocalypse Munitions Institute (SAAMI) maximum pressure specs for 5% nowadays are the same as 4% was in the old days, and that 5% is just a marketing gimmick to get us to pay more for the same garlic powder load. Is that true?

And if so, won't my older Airweight be fine with today's dumbed down 5%?

Will Zombie Max also work as a varminting load for chupacabras?

I can't tell you because I don't buy the ammo. I'm loading my own so if I feel I need 5% I know there really is 5% Garlic in my ammo!

I heard the commercial 5% ammo is just a marketing gimmick too. :p

hi

I picked up several boxes of it, cause it was very cheap compared to critical defense. I shot 2 boxes without any FTF or FTE. No stovepipes either. I have read its the exact same load as HCD just brass case and green tip. I would beware using it on a bad guy though, cause a lawyer, if he/she finds out that you used it would point out that on the box it says its not intended for use on anything but zombies and in today's world, that could get a person in a world of hurt in court.

you might want to hold on to some of that ammo Chuck,

do you know how the world is supposed to end?

....that's right ----- ZOMBIE APOCOLYPSE

at least that's what my kids tell me

Not to bump an old topic for no reason but I just saw a box of this locally and wondered what the buzz was. I may have to grab a box or two to try at the target range just to see how it performs.

This has to be the best marketing ploy in the last 200 years. Hornady zombie ammo. My hats off to the hornady company. I guess if we have a zombie attack we need zombie ammo.....what a great idea to sell ammo.
