hoster for 3" 686

Hi everybody just recently joined this furum and this is my first post. Just bought a new 686 Talo edition, not my first S&W but the only one I have right now, more of a pistol shooter. Only put a box of ammo thru this gun so far but really like it. I plan on changing out the rebound spring for a lighter one and putting a fiber optic front sight on it. I'm looking for a holster for it and was wondering if a holster that would fit a k-frame m19 or m66 size revolver would also fit this 3" 686. Have'nt found very many holsters made specifically for the 3 inch guns any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can also check Simply Rugged. No matter which one you choose, make sure you tell them you are using the fiber optic front when you order. Don't know if it will make a difference in the sight channel of your holster.....but the maker will know.

welcome aboard - k frame leather will not help - change the sights and no longer is a TALO but you will still have 686+ with forged hammer and trigger - I have those custom wood grips from mine stored(can not purchase them by the way) and installed Hogue mongrips - if ever(DOUBT IT THOUGH) sell this 3", I can put grips back on and sell as a TALO - hopefully will bring few $ more - you can also have a 4" holster redone and you can find them anywhere - again welcome aboard

hello.

i have a milt sparks pmk for my 3 inch 686+, very pleased with it.. same holster also works pretty well with a 3 inch k frame model 65. it retains the 65 upside down, but it is still fairly loose. i suspect most k frame holsters would not work with your 686 (6 or 7 shot version) due to the full underlug on the 686

I just purchased a holster from simply rugged for a 65-5 3 in barrel. The holster is 1 inch longer than the barrel looks like it was made for a 4 inch barrel.

+1 for Lobo. I have one and another on the way. Very few people making holsters for the 3" guns.

I have a holster made by El Paso Leather that I had ordered for a 3" N model (Lew Horton .44 Special.) It didn't fit that revolver, but it did fit my 3" 686...so I kept it. I've since traded the 686, and don't plan to get another 3" so I'm planning to put this holster on the classifieds here. (I've been waiting to get some more stuff together, and do one ad...as well as taking some pics.)

It's tan leather, basket weave design, with a thumb snap. I'd sell it for $40 shipped in CONUS. (I paid over $80 if I remember correctly.) It is in new condition, I've never worn it...I just holstered the gun a couple of times to check the fit.
