Hot here again today, man is it hot!

Who looked around this incredibly beautiful country and said, "You know where we should put the adult playground? The oven."?

I think it was more a case of, "Ya know, if there is going to be a city with gambling and half naked dancing girls, stick it out in the middle of the desert where it cannot do too much harm."

This time of year the heat creates these pop up storms that come out of nowhere. Never got a drop from it, but may get up to 3"+ Sunday.

One of the things my brother liked about living in Kansas, and there weren't many, was the sudden intense thunderstorms at night during the summer. People used to think he was strange because he would walk around, looking up, just reveling in the spectacle above him.

103 today. Dry heat...4% humidity Still 80 outside at 0037. A/C is still on...

lost power July 31 with an epic storm... over half the city without power... "they" said it may be back on late today.. My electric power bill for July was a 1/3 higher than our normal average. It was not just the AC, the dehumidifier in the basement also ran a considerable amount of time. (Course the dehumidifier is basically a AC unit missing a couple parts.) Its plumbed into a floor drain so other than keeping the air filter clean no maintenance!

Not complaining having the air run kept us very comfortable and the dehumidifier keeps our gun things and other items in a much better humidity. Looking over past power bills I can see the amount of usage going up.

Last summer was very hot in the New Orleans area, hotter than the usual oppressive heat, too many days of 115* heat index. This year we have gotten a lot of rain with over cast sun blocking clouds, but this coming week is going to be 97* without factoring in the humidity index, yep gonna be hot. We won’t be out of the hurricane season until late November/early December, keeping an eye on the weather for sure.

I HATE THE HEAT.
I would have moved to north-central Montana years ago if I could have gotten the wife to go, and I found a decent job.

New Orleans is one of the armpits of the US; the other one being Houston.
