Preparing for the state match.....only going to compete against myself.

High is 99 degrees which is usually about 1400 -1500 hrs and the match will be well over but it will still be hot and humid.

So I don't take the wrong snacks.....

Looking to keep my energy up without the weighed down feeling.

I will be drinkning plenty of water.

Today...I came to the range just to dry practice the stages and I was hungry. Stopped at Wendy's prior to the range and got a chicken wrap and felt horrible. Obviously the wrong choice.

What do you all eat for breakfast?
What do you all take for in between match snacks?

Thanks in advance

Water, Gatorade, cut it 50/50 with water a couple of times a day to keep your electrolytes up, drink a lot of plain water too. Protein and carbs are what you are looking for pastas, etc are best. Lean beef steak, eggs etc.

For breakfast try putting a scoop or two of vanilla protein powder in some pancakes or waffles. Add some melon for the water etc. Bananas are also good for the potassium you sweat out when it's hot.

As crazy as it sounds those evaporation cooling cloths that you continue to wet work well too. On your head, around the neck etc.

YMMV

CQB,

I have been pounding the water and sweating up a storm, but it isn't bad...yet. Supposed to warm up by the weekend. The Florence FFA was out here today selling lunch - had smoked pork chops, corn and a salad. For breakfast I usually have a couple three cups of coffee (decaf during big matches).

Sometimes I like to bring something cool and light, just to take the edge off and avoid the hunger shakes from low blood sugar, usually something along the lines of the Lunchables. Same thing that gets in many kids lunchbags. They are cool and light. Plus have plenty of water and/or Gatorade to drink between matches and have a bottle of water in you shooting box.

The Colonel says you should have been here since yesterday ;).

thanks MKT

I am going to the store for some supplies and should arrive tomorrow evening. I am staying with a buddy about 30 minutes away.

I am assuming the Colonel is J.D.!!!!

You assume correctly Sir.

The FFA was out again today with some sausages, salad and queso. Much better eats than just plain old hot dogs and burgers. Temps and humidity were up a bit and the heat seems to roll in in waves. Be sure to have some good sun screen too, the weather called the UV index a 10 for today!

Plenty of Water and some trail mix and beef jerky, The mix and the jerky is full of salt and which you will also be sweating out and protein to keep your energy levels up. They are not really all that filling so you should not feel weighed down.
