I'm in the middle of a multi gun trade and one of the potential trades I'll be getting is a S&W 4615. I've read on this forum that the original model had some issues that were worked out in the later versions. Basically I guess I should be looking for a V1, 2 or 3 model of 4615. The only thing is that I don't know how to tell on this model. Obviously this is easy on their revolvers. How do you tell on the Semi-Autos? Thanks for the help.

It is stamped above the trigger guard, on the left side of the gun. Ex "4516-1"

The only ones to say "4516", without a dash, are the original 4516 no dash and the 4516-3.

Easy to tell a dash 3 as it is the only one to have laser etched markings. Hope this helps! Regards 18DAI.

The 4516 has a stepped frame. Th 4516-1 and other dash models do not.
