How did you meet your signifigant other?

I was in my senior year of college on the G.I. Bill. Heard a rumor that one
of the local night clubs needed a weekend bouncer. Called and made an
appointment for interview. The manager turned out to be the hottest
lady I had ever seen, before or since. The interview lasted almost all
night. Before long I was hopelessly in love, and to my surprise so was
she. We were married for over 60 years. She passed away this past
February. I miss her terribly. Like the ancient one, I have a daughter
living with me that helps a lot.

I started dating my best friend’s sister (what are friends for lol) 35 years ago. Next month will mark 34 years of a very happy marriage; we do everything together.
Seems like compared to some of the lucky ones on here though, I am just a newlywed lol

Toward the end of a very busy shift. I was observing a intersection and trying to finish my reports before starting my two days off. a sports car went though the intersection as the light was changing. Normally I let these violations slide but for some unknown reason I decided to stop the vehicle. A real foxy girl was the driver. I issued a warning and then went off duty. On the way to my apartment I decided to eat out and stopped at a restaurant. While waiting for a single table a voice behind me said "Hello Officer" I turned around and the sports car driver was standing there with her country club friends. I was asked to join their table. Well, within two weeks we were married at the court house. I was 28 and my bride was 12 years younger. We spend the next fifty years together and had five sons and one daughter. Penny was the perfect "Cop's Wife" and all our children's and their spouses became Cops. April 4, 2018 at 1730 hours Penny passed while I was holding Her in my arms (Cancer). For the previous two years I was Penny's care giver. I often think what my life would have been if I had not conducted that traffic stop.

We worked together. Actually I was her boss. She knew I was a car guy so she asked me if I'd take a look at her car as there was something wrong with it. I couldn't find anything wrong with the car and after about the third time I finally figured out that she was interested in me.

We were married for 42 years till her death last year. When my friends would ask me how I landed such a good woman and I told them she was the one who picked me they didn't believe it.

She was my ex. I went to help her sell a 65 GTO. Also some firearms. I bought the car and the Colt 1903. Sold the other firearms and we were led back together by the Lord. I had no intent to try to get back with her she was not going to marry again. But one day we were talking and we both felt a strange air in the room.I walked over to tell her something and we touched each other's hands. The room went cool!. We both started to cry then hugged and kissed. I may have wet my pants but not sure today. We went to see her preacher and he told us he thought we were lead back together. Well we have been married this time for just over a year. My kids were not overly pleased. Hers were estatic. My lovely little grand daughter just shook her head and says I knew it when you told me you were going to help her get rid of some stuff. Granddaughter shoots the 1903 and I sold the GTO. Just didn't work for me. Bought another 32 Ford instead. I'm the number two guy for the church security. The church people to us in like we were together for ever. Strange things happen sometimes. Throw your opinions and we can all laugh together.

I'm an old bachelor, no kids or grandchildren. But I turned out to be the connection for two of my cousins being with their significant others. One girl cousin met a guy after coming through a divorce. It turned out that I knew him from the pistol club (and his now deceased father owned a gun shop). She asked me about him and I vouched for him confidently as a good guy and the real deal. They are still together after something like 15 years.

Her brother met a girl at a restaurant in Frederick, MD and started going together. This cousin and I have the same last name. One day she was visiting her parents and told them she was seeing a guy named "David _______" Her mom asked if he was related to me. When the girl pulled out a picture of my cousin, there was no doubt we were related. It turned out that her mom and stepdad had known me for years from the pistol club. That sealed the deal and now my cousin and the daughter of my friends from the pistol club have been married long enough to have 2 grown children.

12 years ago, I plopped down in the last available seal on a SWA flight heading back from LV to PHX, after 3 frustrating work days in Sin City. Next to me was the future Mrs. Wonderful on her way to PHX to watch the Az Cards lose another football game.

She was fumbling with her purse, trying to fish out cash for a drink, as the stew tried to explain that all they accepted was drink coupons. As I flew SWA over 30 times a year, I had enough drink coupons to buy everyone on board a drink. I finally handed the stew a pile of coupons and said "please get her whatever she wants" as I was tired and just wanted to get home.

She followed me off the flight asking how often I came to LV and could we get together for dinner, drinks etc. I finally broke down and gave her my E mail address and she began an E mail campaign dedicated to getting together, which we did. 12 years later, we are still together, making our long term quest, a home in the Caribbean. That home might be ours as soon as November of this year!

Living in Chicago, I was on vacation not doing much when my boss called and said he had a manager in WI quit and would I mind going up there to run the place while they get a replacement. My future wife was the only other employee. I liked what I saw and was not seeing anybody at the time. Saturday evening I was in a bar working up the courage to call her. Called her and asked if she'd like to have a few drinks. To my surprise she accepted. I later found out after I hung up her boyfriend called her and she told him she was busy. Seven months later we were married.

After my first wife died I was used by 2 younger women for money and free labor, thought the second one was really attracted to me but found out later that I was being used.

I prayed to God to bring a woman into my life that would love me for me and not what I could buy or do. About 2 weeks later I met my current wife online, she was in a Christian chat room and saw that I was from a town that she had lived in and asked me if i knew some people from a church that she had gone to. After about a month of chatting with her we decided to meet and go to Winter Jam in Fort Wayne. They stopped us from going in due to the Coliseum being at capacity so we went to a local restaurant and talked for 3 hours. I had a feeling after that night that she would become Mrs. Wade.

Our wedding was planned for May 5th, my mother was in failing health and we knew that she would not live another week so I asked my friend that was going to marry us to come to my sister's house (mother lived with her) and marry us with mom. She sang at the wedding, ate a small piece of cake and went to sleep and passed away 4 days later.

Five days later we had our formal wedding.

The end of April and beginning of May are bittersweet to me but my mom knew that the woman I was marrying was the one that God brought into my life. I wouldn't change a thing as it was all in His plans.

There I was, the AF sent me to Bunker Hill AFB and I lived in Peru, IN.
To say there was a shortage of desirable ladies there would be understated.
My Buds and I had a lot of parties and frantically invited local and nearby ladies.
One day a friend who worked at the local telephone office called me.
She reports a really good looking Blonde schoolteacher just came in and signed up for a phone.
So I called her and that’s how all that started.
A few ago she passed.
We have a Dau and a Son.
My Dau and now we are blessed with a GrandDau are a lot like her.
Since her departure I Have had only bad luck with the ladies.
All the ladies I meet are either Hitler’s Sister or the AntiChrist!
Some of the guys say, find a woman you don’t like and can’t get along with and buy her a house!
So far I haven’t done that, probably won’t!
Did I mention how much I love my Granddaughter?

In was going through a pre-divorce period and took a new job. She was the Executive Secretary and handled my confidential correspondence. From day one, she was after me==everybody in the office knew it but me! My boss held management meetings depending where Happy Hour was. Well, she majored in English with an emphasis on Victorian literature, and, although a Biology major, I had an interest in the Victorian explorers and Victorian ghost stories (Dickens was a collector and writer of ghost stories as well as an amateur paranormal investigator). We would sit there making puns and references that went over everybody else' heads. She went to a new job and we started dating when my ex-moved out. First date was to Tommy's Burgers in Hollywood. Then she fixed me lunch: lavender stroganoff and green pasta (Never to be duplicated, thank the Lord) and I fixed her a dinner of venison tacos.

Quote: "Family lore is that I bought her from her brother for a 12 pack of Schlitz."

I had a buddy who traded a box of 30-30's to date his now wife to the high school prom!

Your story sir, is the first one that made me tear up here... Many happy and sweet stories on this thread, but both sad and happy for you. Don't be sad, you did a beautiful thing and gave mom a beautiful memory to carry on through eternity at the side of the Lord. May God continue to bless you and yours. VR, NMP.

This a story of a girl with long blond hair down to her cute butt, a guy and a car.

Almost exactly 40 years ago I hit the jackpot. I was driving through town when a lovely girl in short shorts was just getting off her motorcycle in front of a local club. Like most guys that sure caught my eye.

I drove a few blocks to where I was headed to grab a burger. After finishing I was a bit bored and still had that pretty girl on my mind.

I pulled out of the parking lot and after four right turns I saw the motorcycle and I pulled into the space infront of the club.

The club had room you entered where the doorman / bouncer stood to let people in to the club. He was a good friend I had seen a in a bit so we chatted for awhile. After a few minutes some people came in so I stepped out of the way so stepped back and let my buddy do his job taking care of the line.

Then out stepped the pretty blued girl with the long blond hair. She had to give my buddy the bouncer a hug before she left. I don't even think she noticed me standing there.

Then she noticed the car. My car, a bright red, 1974 L-Type DeTomaso Pantera. She told my buddy she would give anything to drive a car like that. I stepped out with the keys dangling from my finger and said go ahead take it for a spin.

At the time was dressed a little grubby in a tee shirt and jeans, not ready for clubbing or picking up woman. I was in my mid 20's. I had long hair. Nope I didn't look like the kind of guy that would own a fancy Italian sports car.

Her response was' "yeah right the isn't your car." I assured her it was but she wasn't buying it. My friend wasn't give me a bit of help. He just stood there smiling.

It went back and forth, "yes, it is really my car" and her, "I'm not going to go out there and try to get in that car"

I finely said, "fine, I'll go out and unlock the door for you'' which I did. By then my friend Mike clued her in that it was my car and I was "okay".

I asked her again if she wanted to drive my car. She declined but did say she would love to go for a ride. I'm not dumb, I opened the passenger as fast as I could.

We went for maybe a 20 minute drive. When I delivered her back to the club and her motorcycle I asked for her number. She gave me 4 numbers: hers, her moms, work and modeling agent.

Next day I called and asked her if she wanted to go out that night. She said yes.

Since then I think I could count the days we've been apart on my fingers and toes. In January we celebrate our 40th anniversary. I married way way up.

the car and then the girl.
