Good question, but one thing for certain, the fly is having a lot of fun (bugging) someone right now.

That's what I keep asking when I visit my mom and dad. He's not allowed to smoke in the house so the lounge is out on the back porch, it always seems when he goes outside all the flies come in. It's his favorite activity while smoking, swat the flies. I think they go into the house to get away from him.

You can't be so obvious as to wave a fly swatter about....I prefer rubber bands. Takes them by surprise and promotes good eye-hand coordination. Not recommended for white walls, though.

I learned this from a friend with a degree in math from MIT and a Ph. D. from Stanford. Maybe expensively educated people get this in school . Any way he had a rubber band " pistol " which was two pieces of wood with a clothes pin for the release of the rubber band. When a fly would land on the wall ( his office was in a dank basement and appeared to be a target rich environment ) he would unerringly make a kill. It was quite impressive. He told me he was so accurate because he had studied fly behavior and had discovered that when flys initially take off they always fly backwards. You can't see it with the naked eye but it is apparently a fact. My one shot one kill ratio increased significantly. Just one of the perks of having over educated pals.

Glad that he got something from his time in school! The job/office sure doesn't seem to be much of a reward.

If you put your index finger tip against your thumb tip and put a little spittle on it, eventually you'll attract the fly. A quick pinch and you'll have fly mush. Or several fly legs.

I use an airsoft...when you pick up the pellets, you might have to rinse the ones that connected.
