How does your SD9 brass look?

I've read several posts in the M&P forum about 9mm Shield barrels having oversized chambers that produce bulged brass, which got me wondering if any SD9 owners were having the same problem. I haven't shot any Cor-Bon or Buffalo Bore yet, but I've shot several other brands (including some +P) and all of my brass has been fine. How about yours?

Heading to the range this weekend with different ammo. I never really payed attention to the empty casings because I don't reload. (yet);) As long as it goes bang when I pull the trigger I'm fine. I'm going to take some Remington UMC and Freedoms Muntion Reloads to the range - can also send some Win PDX +P and Hornady Critical Duty downrange. I'm going to post my findings here afterwards.

These days it's a good idea to keep your brass even if you don't reload (yet). There's no telling what uncle sam might do to our ammo supply down the road.

Anyway, I'd appreciate it if everyone checked their brass and posted their findings here. By working together, I hope we can determine that the SD9/SD9VE barrels don't have the same problems that the Shield barrels do.

appearance of fired SD9 brass....

Surly; My pers SD9VE has a fully supported chamber and thus no bulged fired brass. A fully supported chamber is a very nice thing for your pistol to have. Especially so if your brass is subjected to repeated reloading. Years ago I began 3/4 sizing both my 9mm and 40 brass. Just my opinion, but I am convinced, that this works the web area of cases much less during the loading process. Brass is much easier to resize as well. Made even easier with a tiny amount of case lube prior to resizing. My biggest surprise when I first tried this method was that all the brass thus resized chambered freely in several different pistols. Even worked with range pick up or scrounged brass from various sources. Go figure. I do think it is common sense to FL resize any brass used for pers defense loads. Zero room for error with that application.....

Thanks Rickster. Doesn't the Shield have a fully supported chamber too? I thought it did, but I still see posts like this:

...I can't trust it at this point, because my last shot at the range last time bulged so badly that it stuck in the chamber, requiring disassembly & a brass punch to clear the jam...

Back from the range. Shot 50 rounds of Remington UMC and 150 of Freedoms Munition 9mm reloads. Inspection of fired cases showed no bulges.
