how I carry my snub

Home with a sick kid, so figured I would put some pics up of my every day carry "rig", which is generally worn in the appendix carry position:

S&W Model 442, standard grips with a Clipdraw attachment, though generally carried in an OLD suede/buckskin holster (unknown maker). Loaded with and backed up by a Bianchi speed strip with Federal 158 Grain +P Nyclads.

I have never really taken a close look at one of those clipdraw attachments. I have a couple of questions.

1. You mentioned appendix carry. How well does this clip hold the gun in place if you were to bend at the waist?

2. Is having the weapon unsheathed against your body uncomfortable?

I definitely went through my "gadget phase", looking for the latest and greatest...and spent A LOT of money doing so. All the zombie scenarios raced through my mind as I justified different firearms, accessories, and carry options. When it came down to it, this is how I have carried 90% of the time. I recently traded my Taurus 905 to my father for this 442 (which I had given him awhile back) for the reason that my house gun is a S&W Model 64 and I wanted to consolidate ammo. It was a sweet deal for him since I gave him 500 rds of 9mm ammo with it, and I got a lighter carry gun (he uses his strictly for the home).

I can say I will probably be in the market for a holster with some sort of active retention for when I engage in more athletic endeavors...ie MovNat courses.

+1 on carrying the snubby AIWB. Snubbies are just made for it IMO. I used the Clipdraw on my 340 for some time as I prefer how it rides higher. However one day I was moving boxes out of storage and my 340 slid down my pants and fell to the ground out from my pant leg leaving the cylinder all scratched up. I think the higher position allows it to move around easier. For fear of ever losing it or it falling out in public, I switched to the Barami Grips and a T Grip. That was over a year ago and I couldn't be happier.

I used the Barami grips with my old Charter and liked them...maybe I should look into a set...though I do like the factory grips it already has for shooting those stout loads..

Here's my M36 in the karma-win holster (from Rimfired). I carry it at about 2:30. That's silly, but it isn't really at 3:00 and it's too far back to be 2:00.
I have been thinking of using it on the left side for crossdraw. That would seem to be better for the car.
Any thoughts?

Yes sir, crossdraw in an IWB holster like yours is very comfortable. I use it almost exclusively now, and you can get to your gun while in a car.

1. For normal use, I have no issues with using the clipdraw, though 99% of the time its in the holster. I have never had it fall out using the clipdraw, though I have felt it start to slip when I was chasing my dog around the yard. For normal sitting around the house, going to the store, etc...I am confident in it.

2. Only when its really cold out. Because of how the gun sits in the waistband, it is mostly between my pants and underwear, and being that I don't have a big belly, there is no pressure against my stomach with the stock.

first off, pretty holster...

secondly, I often adjust the holster over to crossdraw once I get in the car. I then adjust it back to appendix position before I get out. It is such a habit of mine now, and is a very discreet movement...us guys are always adjusting something down there!

Yeah, clipdraw all the way. The 442 is my carry gun in the summer for light clothing. Winter is a bit different. Sig Sauer p239 in 357 sig

why the only 5 rounds in the strip clip?

i always use all 6 feeling that i have an extra round is a good thing and it doesnt encumber me in using the strip because of its flexability.

It looks cooler...lol..jk..I used to carry six and always had to adjust my grip to get the last one in...and when I carry this configuration I don't have to adjust it. I'm not sure if it is so much the design of the strip or an issue with manual dexterity on my part, but my mind has been convinced, and therefore I am more confident in that configuration.
