A box lends a little cred that the gun may be new, unfired as represented, though I've seen perfect condition unboxed guns and supposedly NIB guns that had plenty of shop wear.
However, for me,it's all about the condition of the gun.Once I fire a gun,the box and papers can be sold to a guy here.;-P I free up some loot and shelf space, and have money left over after I put the gun in a Boyt rug.
I'll never understand the logic of paying much money to obtain the box for an obviously well used gun. It's not like it's making it a fresh time machine gun or a virgin again. It'd just cardboard that was meant to get the gun to a customer in decent shape by the cheapest means.
