How long to break in a new shield?

Thanks for all the replies. It seems as if the problem may have been because the recoil spring assembly was not lined up right. Fri night I was attempting to disassemble for cleaning before my range trip the next day. I could not get the takedown lever down. It seemed like it was on a really tight spring although I had seen a youtube video and it specifically mentioned that it was not spring loaded. Called the range and asked the guy and he had me bring it down. He said that it was hanging up on the rsa. Took it home, cleaned it and the slide was much better so that may have been the issue. I have no problem with it now.

I shot only 150 rounds the next day but it worked fine. The first box and a half I was shooting worse than using the rental but I think I have to get used to using more trigger finger. The RO when I was using the rental mentioned that I needed to use more of my finger than I was used to with the 442. I was hitting left and a little down. After I reminded myself about the finger, I did much better. Overall I was pretty happy with it. Went back to the store and bought 20 more boxes of ammo while it is on sale.

Good. And a good choice to buy more ammo; properly stored it will likely last the rest of your life. I need to get more soon myself.
BTW, is that a Boerboel in your avatar photo?

Shield 9mm. 988 rounds. The slide still takes more effort than any other auto pistol I have. I don't have any trouble racking it. Never did, really. Thanks to folks on this forum I knew from day one it would be stiff. I knew that I would have to use more muscle to get it racked properly. I guess I just got used to the stiffness. Same with the mags. I keep 1 - 7rnd and 1 - 8rnd full at all times. I still gotta push pretty good to get the last round in there. Especially the 7 rounder.
try some slip 2000 ewl,I have only ran about 100 rnds thru mine and it is smooth as butter.i just load 12 in the 13 rnd mag

I got my shield 9mm this past weekend. I rented one that morning and liked it so much I bought it the same day. My Maglula arrived today and whoever recommended it, thank you! I have a little tendinitis in one hand and could only get 6 rounds in the 8 round mag and that was a struggle. This thing is awesome!

I'm wondering how long it will take to loosen up?
I'm taking it to the range this weekend, the store had a good sale on some Blazer brass so I bought a couple to try out and if I don't have any issues, I'll stock up while it's on sale. I'm having some trouble with the slide. I know from posts that it is stiff at first. I have some tendinitis in my left hand, I can rack it holding the gun in my left and using my right hand but of course having to switch hands isn't a long term solution. I found out yesterday that the rental I tried had just over 2000 rounds through it. I'm hoping it won't take that long before it is broken in. I will be taking it apart and cleaning it tomorrow night before going to the range so I don't know if lubrication will help at all. Anyone with a new shield remember how many rounds it took before it loosened up?

I have 3.......9mm...45acp...40 S&W........I just bought "em" and started shooting them........They have never failed........NO break in needed or warranted.

New Shield Plus carry comp

Have had for two weeks now...200 rounds downrange 100 FMJ and 100 Federal HST 124g. Not one hickup..gun performed as expected.

As far as I am concerned, it's broken in and I will not waste anymore money wasting ammo, it too damn expensive nowdays

Just my 2 cents worth.
