HOW LONG?

I usually get them shot.....

I know it has been 4 yrs since I bought my Tikka 30-06, never been fired.
Whether new or new to me, most of the time with-in a couple of weeks however I still have a couple in the safe that I have still not shot after a couple three years. No, not collectors but something that I wanted but when I go to the range, there are others that seem to come first.
I have a colt ar bought before my son was born in 91, still unfired. Many used and a couple New that I have never fired. It's not a issue for me
I bought a Siamese Mauser in 86, since there is virtually no 8x50R Siamese ammo, it will remain unfired by me.
I have a Navy Arms LaMat that I never fired since I bought it in the early 90's.
I had a Model of 1896 Safety Hammerless 38 S&W for 6 years and never shot it.
When they started importing (mid 90's?) The Rumanian M-1969 Training rifles, I bought a stack, I have one for firing and one still in the cosmoline.
Most guns get shot in a matter of hours! Then some get put away for decades to be rediscovered and enjoyed all over again! Which reminds me, I haven't fired my elephant rifle since the late 80's! I wonder if my opinion of the "Relatively Light" recoil will be the same?

I have a brand new polished stainless Colt Gold Cup that I bought for myself on my 21st birthday and have never fired. I've been waiting nearly two decades to shoot it.

I've got a few milsurps, M1s and Mausers that I bought about twenty
years ago that I haven't fired yet. Still plan to though. I have one of
the Polish mod 44 7.62X54 carbines that is new unfired from its mfg
date of 1952. I have owned it for over thirty years and will sell it unfired
some day.

Right now, it's starting to look like it's going to be my brand spanking new Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor, that's been going on two months.

Maybe about a week or so for new one.All I own are carry guns so new ones I like to run at least 100 threw the 1st trip, if they make my 250 round flawless test they become a carry.

I ordered a Larue Tactical OBR 308 and it was delivered 16 months later. I was working in the Gulf of Mexico when it came in so I had to wait another 2 weeks. It was torture!

My milsurp collection was not started so long ago, but most of them are unfired by me. I also have a Polish M44 that looks cherry and an Enfield No.4 in the mummy wrap.
There are some I will never shoot because the stocks are irreplaceable. I have a 1900 dated 91/38 in a cut down M91 rifle stock with a wooden crossbolt that qualifies.
I own a Stag AR15 that I bought pre-2008 (I think) that I've never shot. No clue why, really.
Coming up on 3 years for my CZ 453 Varimint in .17hmr.....haven't even mounted the scope yet........ easier to just grab my CZ452FS in .22magnum.
Oh wait there's an extra S&W AR that I bought 2 days after Sandyhook before the prices skyrocketed..... 2013..... so 5 years.

I think my record is 11 years, more or less. That was a Model 67 I bought in Midland, TX in 2006 and finally got around to shooting last year. However, I currently have about 15 that I've never fired, and some of those I've had for five or six years now.

I bought a 10/22 when they re-issued the birch stock Internationals then put a barreled and scoped action in the new stock for a squirrel rifle. I then put the new action in the old stock and then put it away without firing.
I have several handguns which I've never fired: 29-2 x 2, 17-4, and a Terrier I've fired twice.
I wound up, through roundabout means, with a case of 28 ga. shells. I bought a 28 ga H&R to shoot them but haven't done so yet.

Usually about as long as it takes me to drive to the range after picking it up. I have had some that get new owners that same day, some become old friends and find a permanent place in the safe.

if i have ammo, i usually take the gun into the back yard as soon as i clean it.

I bought a Ruger Number 1 in 1988 at the Tulsa gun show, I bought it for the crotch feather wood and 6mm dies and empty cases and I have never shot it. Jeff

Athat time always depended upon how far I was from the nearest gun range when I bought it. About an hour would be a good guess.
Here in Penn's Woods guns bought between the 1st day of Deer Season(Monday after Thanksgiving) and mid-April..... often sit til May!!!!!

I have what I call working guns and collector guns. The working guns get used to hunt or shoot varmints and in competition, while the collector guns are just to look at and admire. Probably will never fire them and they will be passed to my sons at my demise. Some I have never shot and donated to worthy organizations to use as fund raisers etc. Its a case of whatever floats your boat I guess as I have been a competitor since 18 years of age and have shot probably millions of rounds in various competition. I have won more than my fair share at various raffles and fundraisers etc, some of which I have never shot.
