With all of this ammo shortage business going on it got me to thinking: Just how many different calibers do I have and is their a sufficient amount for each. Well I counted them up and was surprised to find that I have 39. The calibers that are used most frequently I have plenty of, the others not so much..maybe 2-3 boxes. I'll have to rethink those and maybe increase some of them by a couple hundred rounds.

How 'bout you?

I don't have to worry too much, since a few have never been shot, some
will never be shot again and some do not fit me in the stock department.

Many fit me when I was in High School back in the 60's but they are a little short on the wood department now, unless I visit a gunsmith, which is not going to happen.

I only have 5 long guns that I shoot now and the rest are hand guns but I am pretty well stocked up with ammo, for a while.

A few years ago I scaled back to 6, which scored a lot of points with the wife.

I'm a piker. 17 metallic and 4 shotshell. I'm below 200 rounds each for 6.5 Arisaka and 7.65 Mauser, but have ample reloading components for each. The rest I will never deplete in my lifetime.

I just checked quickly.

20, just by looking at the labels I put on the containers and thinking about it for a moment - and I probably missed a couple. Including my favorite weird one, .41 Rimfire, which goes with a vintage Remington derringer that I will probably never shoot.

And for sure I have one gun that I never owned ammunition for - a recently acquired old Hand Ejector in .32-20. And some calibers I no longer have because I liquidated the guns and the ammunition.

For my "fighting guns", handheld or shoulder fired, I have a very adequate supply of ammunition.

Four calibers for me. I have a good supply of 9mm, followed by .38 Special. I only recently got back into .45ACP, so I have a very limited supply of that. And last year, in anticipation of getting a pocket .380, I bought a few boxes of ammo before prices skyrocketed, though I still haven't gotten a .380. :(

I have 6, down from a high of 13. And the only one I feel uncomfortably low on is 12 gauge which I don't shoot very often. Having less makes it easier but with 39 different calibers I am guessing you aren't short of choices when you want to go shooting.

I was in a very decently stocked, larger shop in Greely, PA today. I was surprised to see the cost of a box of 50 rounds of 17 Mach 2 Hornady ammo at $10.00 more per box of 50 than I had paid in the past for same, and currently at $17.95 per box of 50. Ouch.

Lessee here...
.22LR
.380, 9mm, 38 spcl, .357, 45 ACP
.223/5.56, .270, 30-06, 7.62*39, 30-30
12 and 16 gauge

Looks like 13.

Now if we want to break it down by types (SD, range, grain) it is probably close to 75 flavors.
