I was looking in my safe the other day and realized that I had at least a half a dozen firearms that I have never fired since I bought them. And it is only because I just have not had the time. What is your reason?

unshot guns

i shoot everything i have ever had, even collectables, why save them for someone else to shoot.

As of right now, there are 4. 2 are late 1800s European revolvers that I have not found ammo for. 1 is a Walther that I bought 4 days ago and #4 is a flintlock rifle that I have had for about 6 months. I have everything for it except a good flint. Although, by the end of today the Walther will come off of the list. :)

150+ is a good number to start with, they are all of a collection. From a 1898 32-20 target to a 14 with full lug barrel.

Most of my life I could have said, "none", but over the last few years I have to say, several. Speculation and plans for the future, too many other things taking the place of what used to be used for range time. None that I wouldn't shoot, just haven't gotten around to it. I've even sold/traded a few that I never got around to shooting. Something better came along . . . .

I've got two, a Taurus Judge that I bought as a snake gun for when I make my move to Arizona, and a Browning BPS 12 gauge pump. My range time is limited and it's a crisis everytime I go deciding what to shoot. I'm like a woman trying to decide what shoes to wear! I'll get to them someday, I guess I'm just not that thrilled with scatterguns but they do have their place. Now, if you want to talk about guns that I haven't shot in 10 plus years, that would take awhile!

I have about 50% that are unfired and about 30% that I have shot just a few times and the other 20% are my main stay shooters. The 50% that I have never shot are collector grade guns and are either new unfired or in mint condition. The 30% that I have shot are near mint and just to nice for me to just shoot for the pleasure of shooting them. The 20% that are shooters are the guns that I like to shoot and in the calibers I shoot and reload for. I also shoot at lot of 22LR pistol and revolver so 1/2 of my shooters fall into that catagory. In my shooter guns I have one each of the models I own like the Model 17, 18, 27, 28, 29, 64, 66 and 41. I also shoot Sig's and 1911's at the range a lot because these are my carry and home protection guns.

I have given my sons all the guns they want so the rest of the boat load of guns are mine to do with what I please and to sell anytime I want to either buy another gun or anything else I want. I'm 66 years old and these are just a side part of my 401K as I like to call it and these will be sold off someday. Actually, my sons just shake their head when they look in my gun safe and they say Dad we really don't want to have to deal with this in the future

I'm a main line collector anyway so this comes natually to me as I started collecting coins and stamps when I was about 10 years old because my Dad was a collector and got me into it.

Not to butt in, but ...:D

My younger brother passed away unexpectedly at 50 a few years back. My Dad asked me to handle the estate. Every penny went to Dad and my wife and I worked night and day for a year to close out the estate.
Tom was a major motorcycle freak. Several licensed heavily customized crotch rockets as well as a building full of stuff. Did I mention I know squat about motorcycles? Getting those things taken care of was a nightmare. Do your kids a favor. Find a trusted gun-collector friend (and maybe a backup?) you can make arrangements with to dispose of your collection upon your death. Get an agreement in writing. Make it part of your Will.

Or not. Don't mean to butt in.

I am available for adoption Dad!

Actually I have a few guns I haven't shot yet and quite a few I haven't shot much.

The two that I haven't shot yet that I would like to shoot at least one of are two Shiloh Sharp 45/70 #1 sporters I got back in the early 90's

We ordered a half dozen as a group from the gun club after a guy was telling us about em- turned into a 5 or six year wait. Dad and I ordered one each and when the time came dad could not so I bought his too. I just haven't got around to them yet. I need too!

I often think about selling down to a dozen or so then reality kicks in ;) Although it may happen one day if the funds are used for the cabin in the woods/mini farm I would like to get eventually.

I would think that I probably have at least a dozen.I don't have a reason for not shooting them.I have another half dozen that are unfired, and look to good to shoot.

One. An unfinished muzzle loader I started building 20 years ago. I stalled out with metal finishing and some final fitting to go. It sits in my office closet waiting for me to retire and complete the job.

Sir, I have only one I haven't shot, a family heirloom Colt Double Action 1878 in .45 Colt. Something's broken inside it, and parts are hard to find/expensive, as are people who know how to fix them.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

i one a grand total of 2 handguns one Smith and Wesson and one Colt and in all the time i have owned them i have never fired them.

There about 30 or 40 guns around wich I have never shot and not intent to shoot at all. They are in fine condition. It are percussion Colt, Remington, a lot of all kind rimfire revolvers but also several centralfiring antique and old time revolvers.

I do know when I put a round in them the will preform.
But I have to clean them to.

Yesterday I shot a NAA .22 magnum and his litle brother the .22lr for the first time in 2 years I did own them.

I discovred that you cant hit anyting with the .22 magnum what isnt in the distance of 2 meter. The .22lr hits the bord on 10 meter with 3 of 5 tumbling bullets.

I cleaned them and put them back in the safe. I dont think I do shoot those any more.

The only revolver I couldend shoot Is a Thomas revolver. The lock is broken and the fittings are a bit loose. It isnt safe to shoot it.

For the rest count. No ammo or they are to good to shoot.

Only one that hasn't been shot is a 30 year old 3.5" 27-2. And that will come in time. They were not made to look at. Others may get shot on a once a year rotation. I am basically a Smith revolver man, but the the P35's/228's/229's/1006's and 1911's are fun and get their turn too. Figure in a smattering of rifles and shotguns and shooting never gets boring.

I have a rather small collection and most get shot. There are a few that haven't been fired yet but in due time, they all will be used for their original intent.

Right now only one, a Model 16-4 which I acquired last week, and I plan to remedy that situation within the next few days.
