How many is too many???

Quneur touched on it above. A new gun dealer usually cannot afford to be a collector. If the gun shop is your main biz, get it on a solid footing before investing. Look at the replies above and think of the dough you could make selling to these enthusiasts. They will never get enough, so help them try while you smile all the way to the bank. On the other hand, if you are loaded, but then you would not need to ask the question.

It appears from all the posts that the answer is: When you need a gun safe big enough to sleep in, and then do so, you have bought enough. I wonder, do they have support programs for gun owners? We could call it GA. Wait, I'm logged into one right now.

.......You have to have at least enough so that if the spouse looks at your collection, she cannot tell how many you have, and whether there are more than last time. (There will be.).....

This plan works well and it's one I learned from the wife.....did you ever asked your wife if that's a new dress she's wearing and the answer is "This old rag?...It's been in the closet for years"...Works for guns too....:D

Regarding S&W Revolvers....you only buy your "first" one once; but you will never buy your "last" one. Well, technically you will, you just won't know it at the time :D

This is as close as you will ever come to finding the answer to that question.
Brings to mind a similar type question..."How high is up?"....:)

How many vehicles is too many?

On a similar note:

A few short years ago I found myself owning 3 cars and a motorcycle.
I live alone, which is how I managed to keep the motorcycle in my living room :D

I had 2 Corvettes sitting covered in the garage which were my toys which I barely drove, plus a daily driver in the driveway.

I became ill about 2 years ago, and decided to sell my daily driver (G35) and drive one of my Vettes which was brand new(and was depreciating even though I wasn't driving it).
I also sold the motorcycle. Now I'm down to 2 Vettes.
My illness caused me to have a problem shifting, and I became a danger not only to myself, but other drivers.
Well, I made a tough decision to sell that car and buy a car with an automatic tranny, which I did.
I was now sorry I sold my Infiniti.

I still have the one Vette, but now I'm able to keep both cars in the garage.
The good part is my arm/hand have improved, and am able to drive my Vette occasionally, which is a 6 speed.
The bad part is, about 6 months ago I began collecting Smith's :(
It was pretty hard to keep the buying under control, but I've managed not to buy a gun for about the past 3 months. It certainly is a challenge to my willpower.
I'm also a senior citizen, and don't want to end up leaving a collection of guns for my estate to dispose of (and them not having a clue to their value).

If you don`t have at least 5 of every variation, you don`t have too many.
