Only A reserve for 20+ years

I joined the local "Town" police force during the mid 60's as a reserve officer, had powers of arrest and worked the shifts for the "Regulars" when they were off. I was just recently discharged from the USAF, Young & Dumb & Full Of you know what. I usually worked the Friday Midnight to 8:00AM shift. Now a small town back in the mid to late 60's was basically crime free so the intoxicated driver was usually the worst we were confronted with. I am very appreciative of the opportunity and would take nothing for the experience I gained during this period! The Law Enforcement Officers of Today Have Much Tougher Job than I had, my hat is off to those of you who are still working!

Spent 27 years in a municipal agency retiring at the rank of Detective Lieutenant, Bureau Commander. Spent years as a state certified firearms instructor running the department firearms unit and instructing at the academy level. Gave that all up to drive a big yellow bus while the wife and I build our log cabin.

I was a deputy sheriff for 1 1/2 years, a corrections officer for 3 months, and then finished as a municipal police officer for 23 plus years; 25 years total.

Went to Kosovo as an international police officer for two years, followed by three years in Afghanistan as a police advisor, firearms instructor and training supervisor.

Still totin' a badge and a gun as a security officer working on a Federal contract.

4 years USAF Security Police back in the early '80s. Got back into it after moving to Maine in 2000 and spent 3 years as a part time deputy and 10 with a small town doing everything - cop, ACO, marine warden, harbormaster. Just "retired" from LE in June, decide it was time to finally cut back to just one job, like pawncop, I'm also a respiratory therapist, been doing that for almost 25 years now.

I've been a part of two volunteer fire departments, a mountain search & rescue team member and an EMT. I was also an armed security guard many moons ago.
